Calico is a WR I've wanted the Jets to look at since the beginning of last season. He stands 6'4", weighs in at 220, and ran a 4.42 40-yard-dash at the combine in 2003. He was selected in the 2nd round by the Titans. He has been plagued by injuries the last couple of season for the Titans, and I BELIEVE he is a free agent at the moment. Calico could be a big-time sleeper WR if he can stay on the field. THOUGHTS?!?!?!?!
Aren't you fed up with Tenessee castoff WR's...they just leave a bad taste in my mouth. But yeah, he's worth a look as long as it doesn't cost a 2nd round draft pick and a coupla mil a year.
Don't sign anyone who has been "plagued by injuries" and might be a good player "if" he can stay on the field. It's a suicide mission.
really??? to me those are exactly the kind of guys to take a chance on.. Not much risk with big time potential doesn't sound like a suicide mission to me
You know what... I don't know the specific nature of his injuries... but I don't think you can automatically cast aside a YOUNG, talented guy because he's missed a good chunk of time the last two seasons. He could return to the field in '07 and never see IR ever again for the rest of his career. You never know! As a free agent, he would come cheap. Wouldn't cost us a 2nd rounder as NJJets has suggested.
why would the production or lack thereof of McCareins have anything to do with your feelings about Calico?
In Madden 04, Calico's rookie season(?), the best way to beat your college roommates was to put Calico in the slot and send him deep. I think he had 96 speed and over 90 jump. I was probably the worst Madden guy in my house but when the Titans came to town, I got my wins. -X-
I would give him a shot. I don't see the risk. It's not as if he's going to command a 12 million dollar signing bonus. -X-
He always been a 93, but being 6'3 he would kill every Safety/slot Corner back combination in the game on the post route. I would rather just sign a Big wideout that chad can find when he get's pressured.
Um...why is everyone so against this? People are acting like it would cost us an arm and a leg and that at 26 he's washed up. He has exactly what we need, and would be similar to Haynes and Wadsworth for this team. A guy with alot of potential and little risk.
I can't believe no one mentioned the biggest problem with Calico.. he's got no hands! That's why he didn't catch on in Tennessee, not his injuries: he's got hands like feet.
He's been described thusly: looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane. No matter what they're referring to, it's pretty damning.
