Suzyn Waldman just said 4-6 weeks is how long Phil could be gone.

It was a significant POP in the hamstring, not just a bad pull.

If this is true, GET WELL SOON Phil!

After pitching a hell of a game, its very bittersweet.

It was great to watch Phil dominate and pitch like I knew & hoped he could. Great victory for the yankees. IT SUCKS that he is going to miss some significant time.

    a couple pics from tonight

I'm thinking he'll be out a month at the minimum.

this is fucking crap, the yankees need to hire a new trainer dammit, pitchers are all going out with the same freaking injury.

as much as i want to agree with you, you cannot blame the trainers for this one.

He over-strided on his delivery, causing to much weight to go on his knee and it bent the wrong way.

Will DeSalvo get the next call-up? Clippard? Ohlendorf?

funny...I just won Hughes in my fantasy league lottery. Felt like a million bucks when I pulled him. Now...I hope he gets better soon.

Unbelievable. When it rains it absolutely pours.

But there's no way the trainer had anything to do with this one. He just went too far forward. It would have happened to anyone in the same situation, no matter how healthy.

    Damn. Get well soon Phil.

Ohlendorf doesn't seem to be doing well atm in AAA.

Hamstring injuries can be avoided through proper exersize, to some degree. Don't know if you all remember but Issac Bruce would miss a lot of time because of hamstring pulls early in his career. It happened 2 years in a row in 1997-1998. He hired a hamstring guru to set up an exersize regimen for him and hasn't had a repeat hamstring injury since. That's the guy the Yankees need to hire.

I'm guessing it will be a lot more then 6 weeks too. It sounds worse then Cano's last year and he missed 35 games or so. Hughes will have to start all over pitching again as if it were spring training once it's healed and take a bunch of minor league starts..etc..etc..etc. Probably closer to 3 months if what they say about the severity is right.

Maybe it's just going to be one of those years where everything goes wrong? At worst we should be talking about what a great game he pitched lat nith and papelbon blowing a svae as Boston lost but now we have to worry about another pitcher healhwise. Unbelievable.

Yeah, it sure is. Well, if nothing else this will probably give another AAA pitcher a chance to show what he has. Who knows we may have a really young staff by next year which is what we all want.

This is when I really wish Sanchez was healthy. He had been spoken about almost as much as Hughes.

Now is when we really need Clemens. Maybe not to pitch but to show these guys how to keep in shape.

I don't wish this misfortune on the kid, or even Yankee fans. I was really looking forward to watching him pitch, figuring that we'd be contending with him over the next decade.

None of the above since they will all have to put on the 40 man roster.

Humberto is on the DL as well so it will be either Rasner or Wright again.

That's a shame. I had to check the pitch count. Torre is free and clear on this one. When I first heard the 7th inning I thought Joe stretched him out.
