His Oakland contract called fror a salary of $9.75million for this ssason. He took a $6.75million cut to play for the Patriots. He's playing for only $3million.
I was really annoyed yesterday when we let him go to NE. Today, I woke up and realized he wouldn't have done us any good anyway as we don't have a QB who could possibly reach him downfield even with a 80mph wind blowing from the back.
I believe Belichick is going for one more title before he leaves the Pats where they have to rebuild.
an yet Moss calls Chad the best QB he has ever played w/. Amazing how a guy w/ such a weak arm can be sucha great QB. When will people learn having a rocket arm is nice but its more important to have a good mind for the game and an accurate arm?
and post 2 shoulder surgeries he led us to 10 wins again. This year he gets an entire offseason to work on his game and getting stronger rather than rehab. His arm was actual very string early in the year last year but he lost some zip late, w/ a full conditioning program I expect his arm will hold up longer this year.
Someone at work asked me who Brady's backup was- I remarked that it's just Tom Brady's arm, comes out by itself and continues to fling the ball.
Matt Cassell. The same guy who backed up Matt Leinart at USC. He hasn't started anywhere since high school.
Except they traded for next years draft, Brady is in his prime, and Pioli turned down more money to stay with the Pats. And I'm sure Bill is going to pass on the chance to be the head coach with the most SB wins.
If you think that 'dramatic paycut' includes the incentives that Moss is most certainly going to meet, then you're insane. We are about to see Randy Moss earn his money. And try to become the focus of attention again.
it's still a pay cut, but I think his hope is that he can have a great year, win a ring, show he can behave, then cash in on a longterm deal with someone else in the offseason.
They Pats worked Moss out before the Jets drafted Revis. The deal they got Moss for is a total steal, they can cut him tomorrow. The Pats have had the best offseason of any team in football and they brought in two guys at WR who are cheap, talented and can be cut with practically no cap hit. On top of that they have 2 first, a second and 2 3rds for day 1 of next years draft. This is truly a case of the rich getting richer. Bellicheck is in a position of being able to cut both Moss and Stallworth with practically no cap implications any time he wants. This is a case of filling a need through competition with almost no downside for the Pats, that is exactly what BB and Mangini believe in competition at every position. Last year the Pats didn't have the bodies at WR to have that, now they do. It's hard to see how they will not have a huge upgrade at the WR position with Watson being the guy who benifits the most by having either a strong safety or a LB covering him. Watson is going to put up sick numbers next year and nobody is even going to notice.
The Jets didn't want him. I am 100% sure if the Jets pursued him he would have wanted to come here but the Jets are doing things the way the dynasty Pats did them while the current Pats are doing things the way the Snyder Skins have done it.
Good call. That's exactly what this about. His next contract would be nice, but a guy like that can't thrive without attention. For the last seven years, he's been irrelevant by October. That must KILL a guy like Moss. So, he just happened to handpick a team that will play on national television a bunch, and barring a Tom Brady broken leg, he'll be assured a spotlight through to January. Just because he's a goddamn diva, we shouldn't forget that Randy actually was a smart kid coming out of high school, and worked extra hard to meet Notre Dame's stringent acceptance requirements (his "dream school" :roalize: ). He's no dumbass; he just does dumbass things.
So then he participated in a fight and later pleaded guilty to battery and had his scholarship taken away. Smart guy.
