Myles: 4.41 40 Mason: 4.40 40 Holland: 4.45 40 McKnight: 4.55 40 Stuckey: 4.34 40 (pro day after healed from broken foot) Not only is Stuckey faster, he's also better prospect than most of those guys. As said above, he's a late 2nd-3rd round talent that fell because of an injury and probably fell off of a lot of boards due to his poor combine. He's worth a flyer at the very least, and I'd take hom over any of the guys you mentioned. It's still a mystery why McKnight wasn't picked up by someone else though... Everyone look here for an in depth scouting report of the guy: http://www.newerascouting.com/index.php?c=20&a=256 He was their 12th ranked guy at the position.
If this guy ran a sub 4.40 he will make the team. I remember we kept Jonathan Carter the worst wide reciever I have ever seen, on our roster for two years because he ran a sub 4.40. We even played him as the slot at times, even though he could not catch a basketball. That man had something like 15 catches and 2 TD's in his career as a Jet. He wasn't a Punt returner or a Kick returner, no gaget plays, the man didn't play speical teams at all. And we kept him because he ran fast. The good ole Herm days!!!!!!
Chansi Stuckey Just looking at his bio on http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2007/stuckey_chansi Good 3rd down WR maybe? Yet another WR that can pass and run the reverse , double reverse with Brad Smith anyone? Give him #80 If those are all the negatives that be found on him......sounds OK to me. You should see how long the positives list is!!! Not a bad comparison either Maybe we have landed this years Colston.
The same people calling him cannon fodder after running a 4.34 40, are the same ones still hanging their hats on Coles FSU 40 time. IF...fully recovered, this kid will be the #3 WR, and work the outside. If nothing else, when he splits out wide, the Safety has to look to help over the top....
I do. Right when the pick was made. Many people were talking about Adam's size, and how he would be the NT and D-Rob would be pushed to the DE position. I get excited about the Jets draft picks too, I watch the draft every year. But not the 7th round, just like I can't get excited about UDFAs. Because percentage wise these guys will soon be shown the door. Everyone wants to find that 7th round gem, but you have a better chance of getting hit by lightning.
Carter was a special teams player, and I think he scored on a kickoff return v. Indy @ Indy in 2003 (or he at least scored a long TD). He also muffed the first kickoff of the 2004 campaign vs. Cincy at the Meadowlands. He may have also scored a TD on a long bomb in that game as well.
Wait, what about the great white hype we had at WR last year, or was it the season before, where he was incredible in TC but absolutely sucked (he didn't have hands, just stumps), when it came to catching the ball? Wasn't he our savior?
We will see how this works out but I thought this kid was a sure first day pick. I got an alert on my cell phone when he was picked and was shocked that he was still available in the 7th. Good pick in terms of value, hopefully it works out to a good pick on the field.
Chansi Stuckey Later, in the 7th round, the Jets chose WR Chansi Stuckey from Clemson. Stuckey is 5'10", 185 lbs, very fast (40 yards in 4.34 seconds) and can also return punts. In 38 games at Clemson, including 31 as a receiver, Stuckey started 30 times. He ranks sixth in school history with 141 receptions and eighth with 1,760 yards (12.5 avg.), including seven touchdowns. He added 261 yards and two scores on 48 carries (5.4 avg.) and completed 11 of 25 passes (44.0 percent) for 97 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He gained 229 yards on 31 punt returns (7.4 avg.), including a score and picked up 39 yards on two kickoff returns. He also accounted for 2,289 all-purpose yards on 222 touches, an average of 60.24 yards per game. ESPN Draft Guide projected Stuckey to be drafted in the 3rd round.......From the GANGGREEN DRAFT ARTICLE........ Just wanted to let you all know that Chansi is from my home town of Warner Robins, GA and was an outstanding high school QB at Northside HS. He was a "Tim Teebo" type of QB in highschool and they ran an the triple option. Usually Chansi would just keep the ball and run around the defense like they weren't on the field. I watched him win back to back city championships and at one point Northside High was ranked #1 in the Nation while he was QB. I'll be pulling for this kid to do well. It's just kinda cool that a home town kid from way down south has a chance to make the Jets roster. Now I'm not the only Jets fan in the state of Georgia.
I agree with you!! I have watched this guy play for a while. The 40 time may have been crap at the combine and pro day, but he did do very well with the Clemson track team. This guy plays A LOT faster than that 40 time, wait and see. These other cats who just blurt out stats and had never seen him play are doing him a disservice. He's nothing like Brad Smith, he's shifty, fast and quick! Some teams were a lil worried about whether he was a track guy playing football.
I've watched a lot of Clemson games in the past 3 years. I have to admit I wasn't a big Stuckey fan but getting him in the 7th Rd is excellent value. He was always knicked up with minor injuries. In games he seems more quick than fast, which is not a bad thing. Also Clemson runs such a weird offense, I don't think he route running will be at the level it should. They utilized him in a ton of quick screens and short passes. If he makes the team, it will be more of a reprensentation of our lack of depth at the position than an indication of how good he is.
We used him as a Kickoff returner???? I didn't remember him being a return man, could he have been filling in??? Either way, he is still the worst reciever I have ever seen.
I've seen Stuckey play in person (FSU fan), and I still remember him tearing up our 5+ first round draft pick defense (and countless other rounds) 2 years in a row. He looked like a 5'10'' Peter Warrick with his ability to make magic happen in the open field.
Best case scenario his skill set makes him an ideal slot receiver. It's not worth getting riled up over a 7th rounder.
Yeah...he had one of the best games in NFL history against the Colts in 2003... Didn't he come close to leading the lead in kick returning one year?
i remember we lost to the colts like 37-30 but jonathon carter had like 2 td's or suttin, one a 90ish yard kick off return in the first half and a deep bomb by quincy or chad...not sure then against cincinatti...he caught a deep bomb for a td...was he really that bad, i thought he was good but i guess not, he had like 12 career catches for like 200ish yards..but he dominated the colts and cinncinatti
