Hey Guys, I don't really post that often because you guys do a great job covering just about anything even remotely related to the Jets. But I live out here in Hawaii and know a little about UFA Safety Leonard Peters, since I see him almost every week during the season.

He's been here a while. I think he spent 5 or 6 (yes, 5 or 6...he was granted a 6th year of eligibility from the NCAA) years for the Warriors. So he's a bit older than the typical college player. I don't know what his odds are of sticking with Jets, but the man can hit. He's great against the run (which is something the Jets need), but sometimes he's a little too aggressive and overruns a play.

He's been a favorite of June Jones (Hawaii HC) and Jerry Glanville (Defensive Coord.) for the past 2 years. Coach Jones really talked him up during the workouts at USC. On a local broadcast last month, it was mentioned that he spent some time talking with Eric Mangini and that he felt he had a decent chance of ending up with them.

Anyway, I just wanted to start a thread about him because living in Hawaii, I'd like to see the local boy do well in the NFL.

He's a UDFA with a history of injury problems. We definitely did NOT need to draft him. Sign him as an UDFA, no harm done. Don't get too excited by ANY UDFA. For every Wayne Chrebet there are 1000s who get cut.

yeah but of course there are 1000 wayne chrebet many people get cut etc.. they use all types of instruments to measure your height, width, 40 speed, shuttle speed, leaping ability, and many more but what they never can measure is heart... and from the film this guy is not scared to bang heads with nobody... now thas a football player that can be taught any and every other tangibles

  6. I like what i'm reading but we dont have much of a need at safety w/ Rhodes, Smith, Coleman and Washington. He has an uphill battle to make the cut

And I thought I had it hard. I feel bad for you having to live in Hawaii all year long.

Looks like he could be a good special teamer, don't get your expectations much higher than that

I like the pickup. I try not read too much into highlights because they're always one sided, which is what makes them 'high'lights, but this guy certainly looks like he plays with attitute. It looks like he goes out on the field trying to put guys in the hospital. The type of guy that can bring fear to many a wideout. Health could be an issue but no harm in picking up an UFA. I'd really like to see him crack the lineup cause he really looks like a guy who could give opposing offenses a beating.

Just based on those highlights I can see him attaining a guaranteed roster spot on special teams right off the bat.

I can see him being a defensive "tool" player as well.

How he wasn't drafted blows my mind/.

Another interesting fact is that Rich Miano was the secondary coach at UH

I love the intensity this guy plays with. Hopefully he can compete with the big boys.

Just from watching him run down RB's & receivers ... gonna have to say he is faster than 4.75 nfldraftcountdown shows.

Some players "play" faster than they "time" - this guy has game speed. Will he make it? Not sure ... I like his spunk though.

    BUMP........

Check out this video i almost wet my pants

It seems that he missed alot of games last season so im guessing he was injured.

His draft prospect site says he is 6'1 210lb and ran a 4.79 40 but he looks pretty fast, i guess only time will tell.
says mangini would either play him as an olb or a strong safety i dk how he could play lb but we will see.
