That's the big question. Could ARod move back at this point, and still be the best SS in the game. Considering that last night Torre put Cairo in at short when Jeter went out, you would have to believe that even he thinks the answer is no.
I wouldn't read too much into Cairo playing SS after Derek came out. ARod is a 3B now and th's where is going to play PLUS he wouldn't want to start any controversy. If jeter was out for the year then mybe I could see him sliding over but even if eter went on the DL Alex still wuldn't play short and it's not b/c he can't play it anymore.
Over a longer term, I could understand Alex not moving. He's a 3B now. Moving him for any length of time would be counterproductive to him long-term. I just thought that it would have made more sense for a single-game situation to get the best SS in at least the AL back into his natural position. Not a big deal though. Derek expects to play tonight.
hmm..should we believe this or should we just treat it like he is in front of a grand jury? "Barry Bonds says records are made to be broken, including his own. He tells reporters he hopes Alex Rodriguez shatters his record 73 home run season. "I hope he hits 100, I really do."
Well, considering the record is so incredibly hard to beat, realistically, he can say he hopes it happens till he's blue in the face. Doesn't mean he's actually worried it will happen.
Let's not push it. The past few games his HR generator has been turned off, but he's still in scoring position 2-3 times per game. Both he and Jeter. The problem is, no one else can hit with any consistency, so they stand on base until it's time for someone to bring them their gloves.
Does any of this drivel really matter unless the Yankees and Red Sox are actually close in the standings?
Sure it does. Yankees fans have no problem rubbing it in when Boston is down. If we were talking about the Mets, then there would be a point. But the fact is, we all like to see our biggest rival fail. You're getting too angry over all this bro. If you're getting more mad than me, you may want to have your heart checked. Trust me, this is no good for your blood pressure. Let them have their fun man. Look at this way, once every 80+ years they get to celebrate. We only have to wait maybe a decade. They've seen the only title of their lifetime already. We'll see our next one within the next few years.
Actually, you are misreading me here. I really don't care. I'm not puttinh that on. If Arod is clutch or not, if Papi is clutch or not really doesn't matter one iota to me right now with the Yankees sitting 6 1/2 games back and no signs at all that anything is going to get better anytime soon. In fact they could get worse. Wang may go back on the DL because of a split fingernail. Damon is a medical wreck. It just goes on and this talk about Arod and Papi I just find amuzing.
