You're right about the Watson thing, definitely overkill on my part, but Branch is a much better prospect than Watson, and I think the circumstances might be different. While I think he had a fairly marginal year and has a lot to prove, he would have been a nice pick on our team. That said, I get the Schlegel pick. Schlegel was a heady run stuffer on a national championship team with a great work ethic. My buddy roomed with him at Air Force and said he's just an outstanding guy. As much as I was worried about his athleticism, I thought he might be able to overcome. Who knows, maybe he will, but it doesn't look good. As it regards Simpson, as Hurricane already pointed out, he started BECAUSE they're a terrible team. They had no one else to start. Yes, those are good numbers, but they're not jumping off the page at me. Smith played sparingly and had more interceptions. Eric Coleman, who might have been replaced by Simpson had an eerily similar rookie year. As I mentioned, why would I scream for Jean-Gilles? He didn't even play a snap last year, he was overweight, and his workout numbers were terrible. 5.5 in the 40 yard dash with millions on the line? That's the kind of character guy you want? Lord. The Jets best offensive line had lunchpail types like Mawae, Fabini, and Kerry Jenkins. Actually, to be honest, I was most interested in Eslinger and Setterstrom, the two Minnesota guys who had played on a dominant run blocking line but were considered "undersized." Setterstrom started six games for Saint Louis and probably would have fit in with our squad quite well. -X-
You guys remember this thread? Because I remember making it, and hearing everyone giving me shit for it. It's now pick 25 and he's on the board.
Yeah, I like making people like warhound look really foolish. To quote him "If Alan Branch drops to 25 you're the queen of merry ole england. k? I enjoy your posts because your ridiculousness engages me to reply and thus you aided me in reaching my minimum 50 posts. cheers!" Who looks ridiculous now?
Well, when people call a prediction ridiculous, and you end up being 100% right on both accounts, yeah, it feels great actually.
I'm surprized to see you're not patting yourself on the back with your mock drafts-- After all, you were right on 4 picks out of the first 4 rounds-- 1 correct pick in the top 10. Thumbs up!
The important thing is they were fun to make and the Jets drafted well...... Hey Scott Wright had 5 players to their correct team and I had about the same, so, hey, that makes it seem a little better... Plus, who the hell could have callled THIS first round? Quinn to #22... No trades until #14... Ginn to Miami over Quinn? Griffin to Tennessee? Some major surprises... What's your problem? I admitted that it was a nice call at least...
Dude, congratulations on your correct prediction, but tone down the cockiness a bit. You sound so arrogant right now. It is cool that you were right, and proved some people wrong, but you don't have to try to "call people out" about how you were right and they were wrong. Congrats on your prediction, nice job, but in all due respect - shut the he// up.
LMFAO! Wow, I caught this thread way to late but man are a lot of you looking a little foolish right now. Eh, that's alright, the draft is called unpredictable for a reason, right? Alan Branch, 1st pick 2nd Round, Arizona.
Yeah he can talk all the sh*t he wants. But there is a difference between talking sh*t and being an arrogant, sore winner. He can talk all he wants about how great it was that he was right, and others were wrong, but trying to call out people, saying "where are you now, talk some more sh*t" etc., is different. To say "I told you so" is one thing. Take your victory, bigcotch, but don't come and try to start fights. People simply disagreed with your opinion that he would drop, they were not trying to attack you, so don't try to attack them and try to invoke a fight just because you were right about something.
If I didn't have 10 people talk sh@t in the thread, I wouldn't have even brought this back up-- but when people are abnoxious, you tend to want to bring it back them. Like I'm the only one who would have wanted to throw that back at Warhound after those comments.
