Yea ok, then Matt Cassell wins them a superbowl and they trade brady to the bills and he sucks for the rest of his career, great idea.
Matt Cassel, Caddy to the Stars. (Palmer, Leinart, Brady). You just know he'll turn out great. (Not sarcasm).
The backup is Matt Cassel from USC. He's smart, has a great arm and is loaded with potential. At USC he was stuck behind Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart. I would take him over Chad Pennington.
Actually, I'm serious when I say they may pick up Michael Turner for that extra first in next year's draft that they acquired yesterday. Especially when the rumor is that Maroney has a bad shoulder that hasn't healed.
We didnt blow the entire draft on one player. We gave up one pick (a late 2nd rounder) to move up and fill a huge need in the draft. In doing so, we got the best available Corner in the draft. I think it was a great move. At that point, the Jets were sitting on the best available CB, still had a 2nd and a 3rd to add other players. I would make that deal every time. No, he isnt Sanders or Bailey, but the Jets weren't picking 5th either.
One first down or one healthy Rodney Harrison tackle away from the Superbowl and the dynasty is crumbling?
Don you have to expand your little mind a bit & remember back the past half a dozen years. WHY was Moss traded off to Oakland? His playing ability? No his attitude & the fact he was problem child in the locker room & on the sideline. He was a distraction! Why did Oakland need to get rid of him? Oh, ya, becuase once again - in his roll as a team leader - he didn't give a shit & let everyone know that. Great roll model for the younger guys on that team. Now - can he play? Yes. Can he make the Pats better? Yes. Is he capable of being a distraction? Is he capable of taking plays off? Is he capable influencing younger players on the team? Yes, yes, yes! The Patriots were successfull over the years because they concentrated on building through the draft. They would bring in a couple of roll player veterans to add veteran depth. The young guys bought into the system/fell into line BECAUSE of the core vets on the team. This year the Pats went big into FA. Fine .. they improved the TALENT. The big question is going to be (especially with the addition of Moss) what happens with the team CHEMISTRY? Time will tell, and I for one am not going to sit here crying like a 5 year old who just dropped his ice cream cone.
None of that will happen on the Patriots. Wake up. You are the perfect example of a Jet fan who doesn't mind a bit that we have won nothing in 38 years. I'm sure you won't mind if we don't for another 40 either.
He won't. He's too old. Belichick is desperate. As for Kelley Washington, I recall Patriots fans here trying to tell us what a great signing it was. I vehemently disagreed. Obviously Washington is no big deal whatsoever, hence the trade for Moss.
We'll have 2 first rounders again next year. Unless San Fran goes at least 10-6, the first pick will be in the teens. If Belichick were indeed loading up for one more run as many people in NY/NJ (Jets and Giants fans) have declared, why would he trade away a #1 for a future #1? He wouldn't. Therefore, it can be safely assumed he isn't going anywhere. Mangini miscalculated last year when he messed with Belichick in the Deion Branch situation. Had he left well enough alone the whole feud with Belichick would never have happened. See Beli feuding with Romeo? Nope. Mangini stirred things up when he didn't need to. Now Belichick will stop at nothing to squash the Jets from now until he retires or Mangini moves on. If you listen to Belichick's first press conference after Mangini accepted the Jets job , he spoke glowingly of Eric and declared him a lifelong friend. It wasn't until the Branch tampering that Belichick started giving the cold shoulder and dissing Mangini.
As much as we try to downplay this move, anything short of the Super Bowl for the Pats this year is a major major disappointment.
