Unless we trade for someone's rights, absolutely not......... He will probably play alongside Vilma, this isn't good news for Barton..... Maybe a sign for him getting traded.......
I'd rather keep Barton because he is a better fit in the 3-4 and Vilma would yield the higher return in a trade.
I'm glad you phrased that in a form of a question and did not place words in my mouth. I said Vilma would yield the higher return which could be in the form of players on other teams' rosters and/or draft picks from this year or next.
Just like your opinion this one is mine... 30 years of bitching an whining about our draft... our fans are never pleased... they always seem to see the negative before the positive... while the oranization seems to have shaken it's looser image, many of it's fans have held on to those old habbits of expecting the other shoe to drop... Ya gotta admit the whole draft today reeks of the Bradway trade-ups that got us in trouble in the first place.
What I find funny is that the 5 players that have been drafted in the 1st 2 rounds under Tangini are better than the best 5 players that Herm and Bradway drafted their entire regime. Yeah it could be alot worse...
Not really... have you seen what people are giving up to move up in the bottom of round one and all throughout round 2... it's absurd... which leads me to believe that this draft is not as deep as many of the draft nick on the board would likle everyone to believe... that compounded by the fact that there really was not a standout DT that would play NT in the 3-4, and be able to make an immediate impact in the draft.... so moving up to get the 2 guys that the organization feels will help, and help right away... I'm down with that.

Yeah maybe it's just a really shallow draft and we'll be really glad we got two all-pros out of it in a few years. That machine in New England is not going to run down on it's own. Somebody is going to have to get out the garlic and wooden stakes and kill it.
I do have to admit The whole NFL Draft was horrendous I wasnt excited at all it was boring, long, and just a handful of good players..... If The Patriots traded this years 1st for a 1st in 2008 is because they knew it was garbage.....
