Just curious, as it seems people are divided on weather we should've traded up for a CB. I for one, am happy, but not overjoyed, that we got the best CB in the draft, even though we gave up a lot for him.
It was a great trade...alll we areally gavr away was the 2nd rounder...I am really happy ith the #1 Cb
He's the consensus best CB in a very deep draft for CBs. Fills a need, and our division is now loaded with burners at WR. I like it, but I probably would've traded down, not up.
I can live with it. It's disturbing that the talented big bodies on offense and defense are vanishing from the board without us being able to get them. I really feel like the Jets have not been capable of playing with the big physical teams for quite awhile, maybe as far back as Jumbo Elliot's retirement and Randy Thomas's departure. We need to get bigger or we're going to continue getting pushed around.
IMO, He looks Slow for a Shut down corner. But so was Ty Law. Now I've only seen hilights not like the rest of the experts on here who have seen him play in every game in Pitt. afa Hall, being a Michigan fan I have watched him play and he was a Solid Pick also. Looking at it hindsight, neither would have been there @ 25 so making a Move for a CB seemed to be the right move so I voted "I can live with it". I think, L. Washington will be the PR so that Revis can focus on just being a CB.
This is the kind of move you make when you have extra picks, not when you are coming in short. I'm guessing Tannenbaum and Mangini think he's a surefire starter next season opposite Dyson. If that's the case then this is defensible. If he's not ready to go then we're going to lose 9 games and be on the clock at the 14 in 2008 as well.
Meh, I felt we could have gotten another impact player with that 2nd round pick, (I wanted Justin Blaylock, and Greg Olson too) I just hope that Mangini was confidant in this kid enough to trade up for him......
I think one problem is that he is a long strider, much like Carlos Beltran. He's deceptively fast because he takes such huge strides. He still runs a 4.4 40, which is great speed for a corner.
We probably gave up a linebacker and an offensive lineman in order to acquire Revis. If Revis is very, very good then that's a good trade. There's no room for him not to be very, very good though.
I hate hearing people either cry about the draft or say it was a great move. Who knows??? Worry about that shit next year when these guys actually play. I'm glad they fixed a need and I'm glad they got a player who was really good in college...thats all i can say.
I can live w/ it considering we ended up getting another second rounder back. I would have liked Leon Hall just as much.
It was equal based on the draft chart used by all teams. #14 & #191 = 1115.5 points #25, #59 & #164 = 1122.2 points I would have liked it more if they would have thrown in their 7th round pick. Not sure how happy I am about it though.
He better make the Pro Bowl or be the Rookie of the Year...DT was the most important thing this year...still not filled.
