Seems like a lot for Quinn, but if you think about it NO ONE would have blinked if they took him at 3 with a first rounder, so using next years first rounder makes sense because you get the best LT and the QB you want. Great move by Cleveland.
They think he's a QB of the future, and if he is.. Brady Quinn will be the face of the Browns. I really think they've done a terrific job. They took a bold bold risk and jobs could be at stake..
Cleveland didn't give up too much if you look at the value of the players they picked. Even if next year's pick is a top 5 pick, Quinn is worth it. Plus, they are paying a top 5 pick #22 money. The Cowboys really did well.
Won't be if the franchise QB available next yr grades better, but if they felt Quinn was their guy.. they had to make this move.
Yeah but the beauty of that deal is that next year's draft pick could be number 32 if the Browns do good. It may not be... but this pick can be low value, so they got a great deal. The browns will find a way to get back into RD 1 if they want to. In essence they got next year's first round pick a year early.
To be honest, next years number one is meaningless if you, as the FO, considered taking Quinn at 3. The costly part is the high second round pick. However, if you get a franchise QB and LT for the next 10 years, and that's a big if, there isn't any team in this league that wouldn't spend 2 firsts and a second.
Wow...780 for the #22 minus 550 for the #35=230 points for next year's first...they got robbed any way you look at it...except for the fact that they got two top ten picks this year that they really wanted. Points-wise, they got f'ed, but this is just a case of team value vs. draft theory value...and one that will probably pay off...congrats to Cleveland for getting their mans at all costs and to Dallas for getting ridiculous value from the #22 pick.
True, but they are paying Quinn A LOT less than a top 5 pick QB and Quinn has stated that he wants to play in Cleveland.
