Red Sox @ Yankees 4/27-4/29

  1. Well that's great.

I'm almost glad to see this. I hate the sox w/ every fiber of my being, but this is what we get for refusing to add youth to the franchise and refusing to truly address our pitching staff.

All I hope for now is that the sox tank in the playoffs and Hughes continues to develop.

there is something seriously wrong with this team. seriously. this is a team full of talent. they must be not getting along with eachother or something like that, but something is just not right.

There used to be a saying about the Sox. 26 cabs for 26 different players. I think the same thing is ahppening with the ynaks

this is just way too early in the season. it would not be like the yankees to find the problem and fix it,and soon. the core players here are not getting younger and every year counts. they won't sacrifice this one

something has to be going on. im glad its early because sometimes these things lead to a strong 180.

  6. 1. The FO's refusal to truly address the pitching staff this offseason. And also refusing to have an influx of youth

    2. A manager who no longer motivates and has begun to make many questionable decisions

    3. Injuries

    4. A rival franchise that was built and truthfully exists to beat the yankees

    5. Our yearly early season slump.

I think they knew they would be bringing huges up this season. No reason for them to not be confident in him. They added Pettite. Wang is solid and Moose is getting old but still solid. I hate the Igawa signing, but they were countering Matsuzaka with that one. Our pen was supposed to be good, lol. I wish we got Willis. But i think they had reason to be fairly confident in the pitching. The offense should be winning us games, they aren't Not since the Indians sweep. I agree on Torre. I always liked him,but his decisions have sucked and the teams he won with,i could have won with.
The biggest concern and problem i see,is the lack of care. This team seems like a bunch of hungover losers who have a problem with eachother or something. I saw a glimpse of chemistry in the indians series, but not since. they swing at shit and let strikes go by.

This really reminds me of Seattle a few years ago. Yes the Yanks had a lot more success for a while and it was longer but it is very similar in my opinion.

    1. Some years of success (00/01 for both teams)

    2. A few years of doing well but not going to far (02-03 for M's, 02-06 for Yanks)

    3. Both teams had some young and some old and they had the chance to trade those older players for younger players.

    4. Both teams tried to do things (Yanks trade Sheffield and Johnson) but it looks to be too late.

    5. One player continues to do very well while others seem to fade (Ichiro and A-Rod).

we had a start like this 2 years ago. This is the Yankees and i expect it to be fixed,i dont think George would have it any other way. And it usually happens after loses to the Blosox. But as a fan who is driving 3 hours to see a game with my kids sunday, fuck these guys, really.

11-19 was bad, 8-13 feels worse for some reason.

I've got a SERIOUS hankering for one of those George Steinbrenner statements. You know, where he announces to the world that it's only April and that he has full faith that the players in which he's invested so much will certainly hit their stride when the games "really mean something."

    You know what I mean. . . .

    - "I am deeply disappointed at our being eliminated so early in the playoffs. The result is not acceptable to me nor to all our great and loyal fans. I want to congratulate the Detroit Tigers organization and wish them well. Rest assured we will go back to work immediately and try to right this sad failure and provide a championship for the Yankees, as is our goal every year."

    - "I spoke to Joe Torre today and I told him, 'You're back for the year. I expect a great deal from you and the entire team. I have high expectations and I want to see enthusiasm, a fighting spirit and a team that works together. The responsibility is yours, Joe, and all of the Yankees.' Yes, I am deeply disappointed about our loss this year, we have to do better. And I deeply want a championship. It's about time."

    - "I am gratified at the Forbes valuation of the Yankees. We are continuing to build a worldwide brand for the people of New York and Yankee fans everywhere."

    - "My patience is a little short by the fact that the team is not performing up to its great capabilities. The players have to want to win as much as I do."

    - "I'm the boss," Steinbrenner said in a statement issued by Rubenstein. "I continue to be the boss. I have no intention of retiring, and my family runs the Yankees with me."

    - Steinbrenner showed up later to read the Top 10 list on the ?Late Show with David Letterman? while standing at Legends Field, the Yankees? spring training home. And the No. 1 answer on ?Good Things About Being a New York Yankee?? ?You think this A-Rod deal is good, huh ? we?re about to sign Ty Cobb,? Steinbrenner read.

    - "While I have great respect for the Baseball Writers' Association of America and all of its contributions to our national game throughout the years, I firmly believe that a great injustice has been done to Hideki Matsui,"

Someday, I really need to spend more time with this.
