Jackie Battle, a senior from Houston, appears to be a very interesting RB/FB prospect who would excell in short yardage/goal line situations, as a blocking back and as a viable back up to be used in tandem with Leon in the event TJ suffers an injury. He's 6'2", weighs 235 and runs a 4.42 forty. In 441 carries while at Houston, he was stopped for a loss only 6 times. But his pro day workout results are close to amazing. Comparing his pro day numbers posted at NFL.com to all the wideouts and RBs who particpated in the Combine, his short shuttle time (4.11) was tied for the third fastest but he tops everybody (WRs & RBs) in the 60 yard shuttle (10.79 = WTF), 3-cone (6.51), vertical jump (41"), and broad jump (10'11"). He is reportedly a punishing runner who is developing into a very good lead blocker (as opposed to Brian Leonard) who also does a very good job of protecting the passer. His principal short coming is that he thus far has sub par receiving and route running skills. He was initially projected as an UFA or late round pick but with these numbers, he's sure to move up. Still, I'd love to have him if he's still around in the late rounds. This is very much the type of player that nobody hears much about and that Denver ends up drafting and turning into a backfield stud a la Terrell Davis and Portis.
This guy is a good player. Good speed & good size. Reminds me of Jerious Norwood ??? Could add great depth to Jets' backfield & has starter potential.
