I read an ealier interview with him (I think its posted in another thread and couldn't even guess where it might be) where he sounded remorseful for his screw up at OK ST. Maybe he has matured over the past couple of years.

I would hope they were looking at him as a NT which would keep him on the field for a lot more then 5-10 plays. We don't need a part timer.

He's never put anything together in his life. There's absolutely no reason to believe that handing him $500,000 is going to do anything other than feed that tendency.

    I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole.

Pac is a different story. The guy has had 10 arrests over the past two years. This guy had a single arrest in the past three. Obviously the FO needs to do a full vetting process before he is picked but peole do grow up. I know I was a lot different at 18, 21, and even 24 than I am at 28.

It is interesting that they brought him in to interview him. I don't think there were 40 players they did that with (certainly not 40 we ever heard about). It has to make you wonder.

I will be so happy to hear his named called if we get him, but shaking my head if we pass on him. Some team will call his name, who will pull the trigger and in what round.

I believe with all the attention from the media it could now be as early as the 4th.

I say if we do trade McCarien to Tennessee for a fourth we use it on this guy. We would still only pay league minimum and the possible upside is just too good to pass.

With our luck Miami drafts him and he domminates us twice every year.

Ya give this guy so much as a rookie contract and he's going to balloon to 396 lbs and crack up two expensive cars in the first 6 months.

People who have failed absolutely in the past will almost always do it again in the future. It's a rule of behavioral science that patterns in behavior repeat endlessly unless draconian measures (self-imposed or otherwise) are taken to break the cycle.

Probably but the FO seems something in him that we don't or they wouldn't have wasted the money or time to bring him in.

They probably see an opportunity to make Belichik think about having to block a 370 lb guy 4 days before the draft... :)

SI.com has a photo gallery of the draft character risks in the past that have paid off. Before you assume that someone who was once a criminal is always a criminal, you should take a look at that list. Some of the most impressive football players in the league, many of whom would be labeled 'class acts' now that their football career is well underway or over...

I'm all for giving everybody a second chance, as long as their record doesn't include murder or rape or some are vicious act. Probably not a 3rd though.

Yes, but I am sure they all had successful college careers, and weren't just off of the street like this guy playing two games against community college teams. You see it time and time again in the draft, workout warriors who never dominated in college shoot up the board only to become busts. Not worth a pick IMO, I'd rather have a real football player....

Not that he had a character issue, but just to remark on your comments regarding his college playing time. You can't forget that Antonio Gates never played a single down of football while in college and look at what he became. At a much more skilled position. I wouldn't hold his lack of college time against him. He is a 370 pound behemouth who only has to plug up the middle and make tackles.

d-rob is good. you know he was one of the best players on this team last year. kimo was the weakest link and the reason our ILB would get hit.

i wouldnt be against this, first off though this is a total dice roll so he could end up replacing nobody. best case scenario we have d-rob to rotate at NT and DE with coleman and thomas.

worst case scenario we hope coleman pans out at DE keep d-rob at NT and maybe address DE in the draft and just solidify the line around d-rob.
