Haha...actually I was reading somewhere today that they are predicting he will get a 175 million dollar contract. If that's all it is then really nobody could compete with the Yankees( and their 30 million from Texas) if they want to keep him.
I didn't even notice it but that wasn't a stupid move. How many games are you going to watch ARod kill us in before you make a move? it was already 11 straight postseason games w/o an RBI. That is a completely different situation than Abreu right now.
You don't move the best player in baseball to the 8th spot no matter what. Sure he was in a slump, so what? He still batted .290 with 35 HRs and 121 RBIs. That move won everything, didn't it?
He didn't play like the best player in baseball at any time as a Yankee(even his "MVP" year) and going into that game in 11 straight postseason games he failed to produce an RBI. he looked absolutely lost during that Tigers series, he should have been moved earlier and maybe he wouldn't have killed us as much. That move was a move of desperation, it didn't work but at least he tried something else instead of leaving ARod where he was.
Apparently you guys are ok w/ a guy who went 12 straight postseason games w/o an RBI. According to you guys we should give him a monument in Monument Park immediately for his stellar play of the last 3 Octobers.
Nobody said that junc. Noone even implied any of it. Stop it, you're making yourself look foolish. ---------------------- On the other hand, you said he didn't play like the best player in the sport, even when he won the MVP, in all the time he's been here. That's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. How exactly did he beat out Ortiz that year for it, who was also having a monster year? What would your definition of "best in the sport" encompass? If he single-handedly wins every game for us? Shit, he's TRYING now, and the team is STILL finding ways to stop him. You're just being ridiculous now junc. Hell, if we want to talk about poor performance in the postseason, Joe Torre is 0 for the last 6 World Series. But you'd never even consider pointing at your beloved coach, no matter how stupid his decision-making, would you? You can always just fall back on the rings he did happen to win to make your point, right? It's all ARod who blows the postseasons. Even though we've not won in 6 iterations, and he's only been around for 3 of them. Yup, makes perfect sense to me.
I am making myself look foolish? YOU guys are the ones makin every excuse possibl for ARod. The man in the last 12 postseason games does NOT have an RBI! That's indefensible! You blame Torre for his hitting woes though, it was obviously Joe's fault He won an MVP he idn't deserve, put that aisde and I'll say he played to a high level that year(even though he had ZERO RBI in the postseason) what about the other 2 years? 2 is more than 1, correct? I'll take Joe and his 4 rings over ARod and his 0 for the last 12 postseason games any day. it's just funny how you can blame Joe for October failures(when Joe at least has a history of guiding us to Championships) but ARod comes out blameless(while he has done NOTHING to help us win in october).
When will you get off that 12 game stretch anyway? Doesn't it even sound the least bit old to you yet? Why don't you post 1000 times in a row now how great his 34 rbis and 14 hrs to start the season are? Even then it won't be close to evening out.
You are bordering on assclownish now. Who is "making excuses" for ARod? Noone is denying he had ZERO RBI in the last 12 postseason games. Is it indefensible? No more than the other guys who have done squat in the postseason, but somehow you excuse them. How could you even IMPLY someone is blaming JOE TORRE for ARod's lack of production in the postseason? You're scrambling now, and it's sad. An MVP he didn't deserve? Didn't DESERVE? Who the hell deserved it then? The only guy you can argue for is Ortiz, and only because his offensive numbers were a bit better. Then you add in that Alex had a good year with the glove, and he beats Papi for the prize. Please, just stop talking already, it smells enough like shit in here as it is. What the hell has JOE TORRE, your beloved coach, done for us in the postseason the PAST SIX YEARS?!?! Even if you blame Alex alone, which is absolutely ridiculous, yet you do it anyway, that's only an excuse for the past 3. So someone blew the three before that. Oh wait, it must have been the ANTICIPATION of ARod coming. Do you read over what you write before you submit it? Hell, do you even THINK about it before you WRITE it?
I could also add why his beloved Jeter didn't take the team on his shoulders and win those three series on his own. Meaningless singles did nothing. He should have carried the team to victory in the same way Arod lost it on his own.
Weight-loss. He removed a lot of muscle from his chest, and his motion has improved as a result. He bulked up previously, thinking he could overpower the ball. In actuality, he hits from batspeed alone, all of his power comes from his natural size, and since he has it back now, he is able to put the ball over the fence.
He lowered his body fat from 11% to 5%. It made his swing faster and his ability to get to high pitches easier. In other words, he worked out. Jeter, on the other hand, looks like he added 15 pounds of fat and that shows too.
