I haven't heard this guy's name tossed around a whole lot...

Justin Blalock has been the current favorite amongst TGG at #25 and I'd be happy with that. Aaron Ross and Chris Houston are two CBs that have been mentioned also, but I'm not high on either of them. Greg Olsen is just a 100% no for me and many others.

I've heard that Eric Barton is being shopped along with McCareins. If this happens and Barton lands elsewhere, than the gap at ILB will be filled by Victor Hobson likely. This would leave a big hole at OLB/DE that I don't want David Bowens to solely fill. This is a guy I didn't think I'd like, but he'd be perfect here. In an interview on Sirius, the top OL prospect, Joe Thomas, said that the hardest DE to block/the best he's played against in the NCAA was Anthony Spencer, DE/OLB, Purdue... Not LaMarr Woodley, Gaines Adams, Jamal Anderson, Adam Carricker, Jarvis Moss, Victor Abiamiri, Quentin Moses, Charles Johnson, but Anthony Spencer... (For the record, I don't know which of these Joe Thomas has faced in the NCAA, but probably a bit of them).

There is too much to like about him. His production is ridiculous especially last season with 27 tackles for a loss, 93 total as a DE and 10.5 sacks! Maybe he's a Shaun Phillips type?

If you want to improve our secondary, how about getting a major pass rusher who can really make Justin Miller, Drew Coleman, Hank Poteat etc.. etc.. look a lot better.

Justin Blalock would be nice, but what about this guy? Thoughts?

I've been begging for Anthony Spencer for a month and a half now, he's got everything that the Jets really would be looking for. Plus, he's a great character kid based on everything I've heard and some interviews he's done. Spencer would be the type that could get serious playing time immediately, I'm not sure how well he'd be at dropping back, but i'd say he's about as good an athlete as Phillips is, and he has no problem. Purdue has put out a lot of these OLB/DE's recently, and they had some good success in the NFL.

He has a crazy mohawk, that is bonus points in my book, I would take him at 25, he is right up there with Blalock for me, I guess i just havent been vocal about it, I have been more anti-Ross and Olson

Looks too small and light to continue those numbers in the NFL.

I'd be really happy if the Jets got the chance to take Spencer. He's got bookend for Bryan Thomas written all over him. He'd also take some of the pressure off of Vilma because the Jet's LB corps would get bigger on his arrival.

Too small? He's 6-3 261... "...Relatively stout against the run for his size"- NFLDC

He may not start in 2007 since Eric Barton might still be around, but he's the future in 2008 at the very least.

He's gonna be a strongside LB in a 3-4. Fast and big and scary. I think.

I would love somebody like that then if Carriker isn't there. I think NE will take Carriker anyway if he is at 24.

Oh yeah, I could see a scenario where the Redskins take him at #6, although I don't think it will happen. The Dolphins, 49ers, Rams, Panthers, Steelers or Jaguars might go for Carricker is he fell to them.

BTW, Wisconsin never played Nebraska so he never played against Carriker. That's one.

Spencer by far is my number one choice. No way Carriker is here, and I could live with a Blalock if that was our choice, but my worst nightmare is we pass on Spencer here and NE grabs him right behind us. And if the choice is good pass rusher or good DB, I vote pass rusher every time.

Anthony Spencer would be a nice addition. Here's my only concern of drafting Spencer in Rd 1, there is so much value at the DE/OLB positon in Rd 2 and 3. If we let Blalock slip by at #25, we know Grubbs and Sears will be gone, and if Beekman is gone by #59 it would be disappointing. I still feel we can get a good OG in Rd 3, but not in the class of the above OGs I mentioned.

IMO, too much value in Rd 2 and 3 at OLB to draft Spencer in Rd 1.

There might be good value later, but this might be the best OLB/DE in the draft..

I think all of the following Guards could be around:
    - Josh Beekman
    - Manuel Ramirez
    - Andy Alleman
    - Mansfield Wrotto
    - Mike Jones
    - Marshall Yanda
    - Arron Sears, a longshot though

You and me both. If there is pressure on the QB the DBs have much less to worry about. Considering we couldn't pressure anybody at all last year unless we brought a safety blitz our corners did a hell of a job. Can you imagine how good they would be if somebody was always in the QBs face? I think taking a corner in the first round would be a total waste of the pick.

I love Spencer.... If we took him at 25, our pass rush would increase exponentially. If Thomas continues to get better and Spencer steps in opposite him, they'd wreak havoc on QBs for years to come.

I think he has replaced Justin Blalock as my top choice at #25...

    Anyone else with me?

I'm on board with you. I feel like excellent OGs and RTs can be found in the later rounds. Dynamic pass-rushing 3-4 LBs cannot.... Spencer would make my draft

I don't think Beekman & Sears are going to make it to #59. As I said earlier, I like Spencer and wouldn't be too upset with him at #25, but I'd rather go a different direction since there are so many outstanding OLB/DE's available later.

I'm still sticking with the Justin's...Blalock or Harrell are my choices in Rd 1.
