Scott Boras says it only takes one team to set the market. Who could it be next year? Red Sox, Mets, Cubs again, Yanks can overpay. I mean who expected the San Francisco Giants to step up the way they did for Zito?
I don't see how the yanks can overpay with Texas throwing in 30 million to whatever offer they make. Only other teams can overpay.
Let this play out. I don't think there is anyway that Boras/Rodriguez do not opt out of his current contract. How can they gauge the market otherwise? They can always opt out and continue to negotiate with the Yankees. But then that would be a new deal, and I believe, Texas is relieved of its financial responsibility under the old contract.
Exactly right and then I guarentee the Yankees won't be a player in any new deal. It would be crazy for them. That's why Arod has to really decide whether he wants to stay a yankee or leave before making that opt out decision. He could end up with more money (if that is even HIS motivation, I know it's Boras's) staying with the Yankees then leaving and not having the Yankees even a bidder.
But wait, I thought A-Rod's failures were why the Yankees lose in the playoffs. So now that he's killing the ball they should be winning all the time too, but they keep losing and losing. It's almost like he's only one member of a team and the fate of the Yankees doesn't hinge on his performance. Weird.
Holy Crap this is getting insane! Anyone know the record for homers in a month? (Didn't Sammy get like 20 or something like that in 98?)
If nothing else his streak his keeping all the headlines from going to Bonds and I bet everybody in MLB is happy for that. I hope he keeps it up at least until after Bonds breaks the record.
How sad...haha. "Good news for Yankee fans: Rodriguez is on pace for 126 home runs and 306 runs batted in. Now the bad news: The Yankees are on pace for 90 losses."
How many more times is Arod going to have to lead off an inning before Clueless Joe kicks Abreu's ass down in the lineup and puts Arod in the 3rd spot? He led off 2 more times last night. He's only leading the league in BA, HRs and RBIs yet he still leads off an inning at least twice a game. He might help Jeter get out of his funk too.
Yep it's Joe's fault, why wouldn't it be? Abreu has been good overall this year, b/c he has a couple of bad games in a row is not a reason to start juggling the lineup. We are losing b/c of poor pitching right now.
He is making the last out of the inning twice a game on a regular basis. When you have somebody as hot as Arod is right now you don't want somebody like that batting in front of him. Who else's fault is it if not Torre's? They say baseball is a game of adjustments. Well, he needs to make some. As far as juggling lineups he had no problem batting Arod 8th in the playoffs which was the stupidest move he made in a career of stupid moves.
That's going to happen from time to time, if it becomes mroe than a fe wgames I agree make some changes but the guy has been good this season overall and Abreu did get on to get ARod up on Saturday w/ a chance to tie or take the lead and he got on in Fri Night's game and ARod was the tying run at the plate b/c of it.
