I liked Ngota alot. I'm not sure if he had/has the initial burst to play 3-4 NT and we'll never know. But he's certainly a load in the 4-3 and has a ton of upside.
When I saw Ngata go to Baltimore I got the same sick feeling I get whenever a good LB winds up in Pittsburgh. You just knew that Billick and his staff would take advantage of having a big DT fall in their laps.
A quick initial burst or the ability to get to the QB isn't as important to a 3-4 NT as the ability to be stout at the point of attack and occupy multiple blockers. Paul Soliai will be good for this but we already have Sione Pouha who was injured last year and I believe that he's healthy now. If the Jets absolutely must draft an NT, then Soliai on the 2nd day is the way to go. Since he isn't well suited for the 4-3 and since there are fewer 3-4 teams in the league, chances are he will be there on the 2nd day and there's no reason to reach for him on the first day.
Ngota's stock was all over the place depending on who you talked to. In fact, it's not even certain how high Balty was on him, they just HAD to take an NT round 1 no matter what to keep their superstar MLB happy.
Paul Soliai is the guy the jets need to keep the other teams off Vilma to make plays! Plug those holes and take him in the third round.
I disagree with alot in this thread. but anyways, im all for going with Soliai in 3rd, and Doughty and Leonard are pretty good day 2 options.
Sorry to disagree, but u have to grab him by the end of the 3rd round.....else you'll be grabbing air.....
