Who would you take assuming that the player would be available at 25?

If it is someone else...just say who.

Trade the pick. (For Atlanta's #40 and #44) If all these people are there at 25 the chances are one of them will still be there at #40.

If all of those guys are there, it has to be Darrelle Revis, but that is very unlikely.

I'd go with Blalock assuming that Revis is long gone by #25.

I am a Spencer supporter but if Houston is there he is better than anything that might be there at the end of the 2nd where we could still get Woodley or Moses

I was all set to vote for Spencer until I read your point. It's sound thinking like that that separates the good GM's from the rest. Screw it, I'm voting for Spencer any way. I love the pass rush, man.

Haha did you just suggest I may be a sound GM?

I'm going with Spencer too. The pass rush is the Jets weakest point at the moment and Spencer is the person most likely to fix that. Bryan Thomas and Spencer as bookend OLB's sounds like something that might distinguish the Jets 3-4 for the next few seasons.

I wouldn't mind a OLB that can also play DE either. Certainly better and instantly more productive then a CB for us.

i think i outlined my best scenario a few weeks ago.... if i can remember it was......

    1. it comes down to Olsen and Blalock at 25 for me...if either one is there i pull the trigger on him.

    2. i am not fond of pulling the trigger on a CB at 25 this year....UNLESS someone slips and the value is just too good to ignore. which i do NOT expect too happen.

    3. I would consider Meachem at 25 only. not any of the other WR.

    4. If none of the above players are on the board and CB is not a good value at this point i DEFINITELY look to trade out of the round......somthing i can see the pats also looking to do with one of their picks. hopefully there will be some takers.

BUT i still look to making a move for Johnson. 1t takes a 3-headed monster to win in this league and someone may not be far off saying the jets have 2 of those heads in place - pennington/clemens, thomas jones, and........

it would be awesome to insert johnson into that trifecta. i have not seen the 08 WR class so if the jets do their homework and see a promising 08 class than i can see waiting a year for that stud WR. but seriously, pennington has another 1-2 years with the jets and jones has another 2-3 years left so lets get that stud in here now.

just a follow up for those that will take offense to our present WR players.....

i consider coles AND cotchery to be 1A types of receivers and the jets can definitely win with these guys provided they have a RB AND TE threat - something we all know they did not have last year.

but these guys cannot carry the load and to add a stud at WR would open alot of things. it would also prepare for the eventual release of coles which will likely happen, IMO, after next year.

There is absolutely no way in hell we could ever come up with enough to get Johnson even if he broke both legs the day before the draft. That's just a dream. You would have to move up to #1 to be sure of getting him. Oakland will probably take him. Detroit is even saying they might if he's there despite their history of 1st round receivers. Tampa Bay certainly would. So it's just not going to happen.

Vilma + Coles + 25 sould be more than enough to move to top 3 + get a 3rd or 4th rounder.

Even if you did that doesn't guarentee you get Johnson (and I don't think that's enough anyway). It has to be done before the draft so do you really want to trade them for whoever may be there at 3? I don't. You can't trade players on draft day, only picks. There are two reasons for that. The team you are trading to wants to have their legal people review their contracts. They aren't going to take your word for it. Secondly, the NFL has to approve all trades. Neither of those two things can be done in the 15 minutes a team is on the clock. So, like I said, the only way you are sure of getting him is to trade up to number 1 and do it before the draft.

If Jarvis Moss is there lock it up, because he is exactly the type of player the defense needs.

I can't believe I'm the first person to vote for Dwayne Jarrett. Jarrett should be a top 10 pick but he won't. I think he's easily the 2nd best receiver in the draft.

If Revis is there i'm taking him but if he is not which is more likely I'm going with Anthony Spencer as the next Shawne Merriman

He has fallen so far he probably wont even be a first round pick anymore. His workout was terrible and he didn't compete at the combine.

Its more likely that we trade the the pick with Tampa Bay or Miami the better trade would be with Atlanta who actuallty has 39 and 44.Tampa Bay has 35 and 64 and Miami has 40 and 60.

Miami would do it for one player in my opinion and that would be Dwayne Jarrett but that depends on how much they like him its possible because in other earlier mock drafts Jarrett was gong to Miami alot.

Atlanta would do it for only for Jarett too but we would have to give them a 3rd .Because their 2 picks equal 970 while our 1st equals only 720 points.

Tampa Bay does it for someone like Jarvis Moss or Anthony Spencer but that depends on how much they like them over Woodley or Moses who they could get with their 64th pick.

Hopefully the one with Miami one could go down because if Revis,Houston or Meachem isnt their i wanna trade down.
If we trade with Miami our draft could possible look like this

    40.Justin Blalock OG
    59.Sidney Rice WR
    60.Daymeion Hughes CB/Tanard Jackson CB
    63.LaMarr Woodley OLB/Quentin Moses OLB
89.Mike Walker WR /Paul Soliai NT
115.(TEN's pick McCAreins WILL BE TRADED)Kevin Boss TE
    164.Marvin White S
    177.Ramonce Taylor ATH
