http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2836410 Al Wilson is a great player. I'm not saying the Jets should go after him, however I don't want him to end up in the AFC East with another team.
if anything...we could sign him to the already excess amount of LBs we have...at a reasonable price...then move Vilma to the outside.... but we wont..its not that dire of a need
Wilson is just a tiny but thicker then Vilma....he would be a little bit better fitted for our defense...not a whole bunch
He has been hurt. They tried to trade him and couldn't. We should sign him and see if he has anything left. In his prime he was great. It wouldn't cost much.
Wonder how serious the injury is if he failed his physical when they tried to trade him to the Giants.
Actually this doesn't sound too good. Wilson said he might play with another team if he can get medical clearance from a neck injury he suffered in a Dec. 3 game against Seattle. "I'll only get out there and play if I'm healthy," he said.
the only place he could end up in the afc east is buffalo...but they are nearly a lock to draft an ilb on day 1 and are not an attractive place for a vet(or apparently anyone) with the way he hit combined with his injury...it may be best he call it quits if he comes back i'd think he goes to the nfc
5.2 million base salary next season and the neck injury. They have no middle linebacker now so the two factors must have weighed pretty heavily on them. Shanahan also has the example of Bill Romanowski, who absolutely destroyed his health in the last few years of his career and then called the Broncos out on their injury policies. He never wants to have the team or himself go through that again.
he isnt the same lb he was in 04 and 05 and even before the injury the entire lb corp was a disappointment in denver...if they have enough picks ian gold could be out too the neck injury at the end of last season didnt help wilson's case for a potential rebound year...it looked bad at the time and judging from the quotes it seems to still be a big problem
Thats a ridiculous statement. The Giants are going to be all over him. Then they'd have Pierce, Mitchell and Wilson as their three LBers with Chase Blackburn switching in to keep things fresh and any LB that they will most likely draft within the first two rounds. I think letting Emmons and Arrington go were good moves if it works out this way.
yeah i agree on all fronts. he would be a dead ringer for the giants. but buffalo is not an attractive place for anyone... lake effect snow, nothing interesting to do, and you're pretty much in canada. i dont blame anyone for leaving that city.
whats ridiculous...that we wont sign him, or the thought of signing him? i said i dont think it will happen nor do I think it should, i just presented a hypothetical situation for ya....elaborate
