I betcha Raiderjoe didn't know who Russell was until January.

Brady Quinn is well known because he played for Notre Dame.

Russell is better than Culpepper. There are also some similarities to Doug Williams and again Russell is better. The only way Russell will not pan out (aside from injuries) is if he rests on his laurels and gets fat, sloppy, and loses interest in the game. If he gets drafted by Oakland and they don't coach him well, he'll resurface with another team down the road and he'll play well.

That is pretty biased statement, as others have mentioned Quinn is only known so early because of the ND hype machine, and seriously with the 1st overall pick there is nothing "safe" about the pick, you are looking for a superstar with that pick not some Joe Schmo who is guaranteed to be in the league for 10 years, and if they did pass Russell up just to be safe just to see him achieve that potential, they would get crushed by the media and the fans much like how the Texans went "safe" last year, and you can also compare Quinn to Carr so it isn't like it is guaranteed that he will be anything either

Floyd Reese, the man who drafted ROY Vince Young, confidently said that Russel is not ready to play in his 1st year. Doesn't matter which team.

Thats just one mans opinion. Only thing Vince young Prove was hes alot like Mike Vick. He beat teams last year more with his legs than his arms(go look up V young pasing stats-not that impressive) Jmo Im not looking for a RB to play the Qb position. Jamarcus Russell light years ahead of Vince Young the passer. Ask Phil Savage Clevland Browns GM what he th'inks of Russelll.

Last point when you invest in a franchise QB its not necessarily about next season but for your future. Case In point look at Peyton manning recoprd his first year in league. P Manning threw 11 interceptions in his first four NFL games.

Brady quinns come out every year but the Jamarcus Russell come out only about every 15 years.

Most likely Raiders get a Veeran QB to be starter next year uintil the 21 year old Russell ready.
