ESPN has an article today by Scouts Inc.(?) reviewing every team's draft from 2004. Why? Beats the hell out of me. But I figured I'd copy and paste the Jets review: The Jets had a very good draft in 2004. They were able to find three starters and a solid backup among their first five picks. LB Jonathan Vilma, the No. 12 overall pick in the first round, has been one of the most durable and productive linebackers in the league and fits well in head coach Eric Mangini's 3-4 defensive scheme. Third-round CB Derrick Strait did not pan out and is now a backup with the Panthers, but the Jets found a gem in the fourth round with WR Jerricho Cotchery. He stepped up in his third season with 82 receptions and six touchdowns. Fourth-round OT Adrian Jones has had 16 career starts and gives effective depth to the Jets' offensive line. Fifth-round S Erik Coleman has been very durable and productive, and seventh-round S Rashad Washington has provided valuable depth to the secondary. The team's other four choices have bounced around on practice squads and are career backups. One of Bradway's finer drafts... but nothing compares to last years draft and the immediate impact it made
Because it is best to wait at least three years to review a draft. I have PFW's draft preview from that year and Cotchery wasn't in their top ten WRs. I had him around 5 or 6. If I get around to it, I'll post some of their rankings and what they got right and what they got wrong.
I don't agree at all. He was a great fit in the 4-3, but I just don't see him being productive in the 3-4
