It's 7 million. The signing bonus. The only one who would call the 5 million roster bonus in 08 "guarenteed" is the agent that talked him into signing the contract.

Tangini is smart. The Jets won't get Turner, at least I hope they don't. Jones/Washington will be fine.

Could you imagine the 1-2 punch of Jones and Turner,,, then Leon on third down. Oh would I love to see that. Plus, the crying that would take place outta some on this site if they parted with that "big" 25th pick.

Wow, I'm watching the Chargers/Ravens game...and I have to say I'm more impressed with Turner every time I watch him. The guy just doesn't go down, and he just pounds the hole so hard that he rarely gets tackled for a lost. I don't think theres anyone who runs as hard as he does in this league.

BTW - It's the second quarter and the Chargers are up 13-7. Not exactly the garbage time fans love to talk about.

^^ It's true. NFL radio was jsut talking about it. The Jets aren't at the top of the interest list, it's mainly Buffalo, GB, and Tenn I think, but the Jets name was mentioned...

    Bills

It seems ludicrous that we would be interested after the Jones trade.

I'm more interested to see if the Bills get him and what they're willing to give up. Turner was a pretty divisive issue on this board and if we get to see him close up twice a year it'll go a long way to settling those old arguments.

Personally, I think he's a stud and would prefer him in SD or GB or any place not named Buffalo, Miami, or New England.

Maybe we're faking interest to drive up the price a little? If Buffalo does get him, maybe we're making sure they pay a lot for him.

Discussion of the extremely unlikely trade for Turner shows how desperate we are for off season news.

Except that it is being reported that we are interested by 3 or 4 major sources, so although it is unlikely, it may be more likely than you think...

This report is about as credible as the one that we have changed to the 3-4 defense

It was a pun... obviously we are going to stay in the mix for Turner, or at least seem like we are. do you want to see him 2 times a year up in Buffalo? And what if we are able to pry him away for less than a 1 and 3. We aren't privey to any of that info, but you always do whatever it takes to make your team better, and to drive the price up of a team in your division trying to get better. It also lights a fire under the players on your roster to know that they are expendable.

These reports are too fresh and too numerous for their to be no validity to the reports. I think we ARE still interested in getting Turner and in the "we will leave no turn unturned" philosophy I am sure they are looking at this. The one advantage that the Jets have is their ability to provide a backup RB to SD in return. The Jets could provide Houston or even Leon (please NO!) to the Chargers as part of a deal. Is Turner worth a second and Houston? Maybe. The Jets would have a formidable starting RB corps in Leon, Jones and Turner. Even if the Jets did what I would not want them to do and include Leon, Jones and Turner would be a dynamite duo. I am not a fan of pursuing Turner at this point, but I could see the logic behind it on both teams parts.
