Here's another try at a first round mock... Everything is up to date I feel it's pretty accurate. There are no major surprises, but there's a few new picks that you probably wouldn't expect...

    NFL

    1. Oakland: Jamarcus Russell QB LSU
This one seems obvious. They need a franchise QB more than anything else. Calvin Johnson is the pick if they can acquire David Carr, which I like more. In any case, Andrew Walter as a starter doesn't seem like a good idea in my mind... Probably not in Al Davis's either...

    2. Detroit: Brady Quinn QB Notre Dame
Joe Thomas would be the pick, but they have a solid LT with Jeff Backus. They acquired George Foster in a trade with the Broncos, so maybe he?s their potential RT. With Kitna around 34, they need to begin thinking of the future at QB.

    3. Cleveland: Adrian Peterson RB Oklahoma
Even though they signed Jamal Lewis, it was only a one year deal and he is no longer a franchise back. They could opt for Joe Thomas and help the offensive line, but I don?t see them passing on him.

    4. Tampa Bay: Calvin Johnson WR Georgia Tech
If he falls this far, he won?t get by Tampa, which need a playmaker at WR with Galloway turning 36 and Michael Clayton regressing. He?ll add another dimension to their offense.

    5. Arizona: Joe Thomas OT Wisconsin
This is their ideal pick with Leonard Davis leaving in free agency and their offensive line being mediocre overall.

    6. Washington: Amobi Okoye DT Louisville
Cornelius Griffin starts at one DT spot; the other is filled by a bunch of mediocre players who are nothing special. This guy is, however. Gaines Adams is a possibility also.

    7. Minnesota: Gaines Adams DE
Another 1st round DE? Hey, the Jets did it. With Kenechi Udeeze tallying 0.5 sacks this season, DE becomes a need. Gaines Adams is also the BPA at this point.

    8. Atlanta: LaRon Landry S LSU
Great player who is the BPA and fills a major need. The Falcons need some more secondary help at either CB or S. Jamal Anderson and Levi Brown are also possibilities.

    9. Miami: Adam Carricker DE Nebraska
David Bowens left as a free agent, and they need youth along the DL. Jason Taylor and Kevin Carter have been around a while. It is possible that Carricker can even play DT in the 4-3, which is also a spot of need. They are said to like him from what I?ve heard.

    10. Houston: Leon Hall CB Michigan
The CB spot opposite Dunta Robinson needs an upgrade. Their entire secondary is mediocre for that matter. Hall is the best CB around and one of the BPAs around period.

    11. San Francisco: Jamal Anderson DE Arkansas
One of the final components of their 3-4 defense is a good base DE. Anderson has the size to play DE in the 3-4 and is a solid value here. They could also go with a WR, but I wouldn?t take Ginn or Meachem this high.

    12. Buffalo: Patrick Willis LB Ole Miss
With London Fletcher and Takeo Spikes gone, LB is a pressing need, as is RB, CB and OT. This guy can go Top 10 IMO and is the best LB in this draft. He can play OLB or ILB.

    13. St. Louis: Alan Branch DT Michigan
He being out of shape contributes to him falling to the Rams. It?s a good thing too since they need to stop the run better to compete this season. This would be a potential steal for the Rams here.

    14. Carolina: Paul Pousluzny LB Penn St.
It looks as if Chris Draft won?t be with the Panthers next season. There is more question at MLB since Dan Morgan can?t stay healthy. Anywhere you slice it, the Panthers could use a LB and this guy is my easy choice as the #2 overall LB in this draft. He can play inside or outside.

    15. Pittsburgh: Jarvis Moss DE/OLB Florida
Whether Pitt runs a 4-3, 3-4 or hybrid, Jarvis Moss can play OLB in the 3-4 or DE in the 4-3. Each is a need for the Steelers. There is a chance he falls further than this or they go for Darrelle Revis or an offensive lineman like Levi Brown here.

    16. Green Bay: Marshawn Lynch RB California
This is the consensus in most mock drafts and rightfully so. They need a back since Ahman Green left, and who better than Lynch? Other possibilities include Ted Ginn Jr. or Greg Olsen.

    17. Jacksonville: Michael Griffin S Texas
Donovan Darius is around 32 and Deon Grant left as a free agent, so Safety becomes one of their biggest needs. I think Griffin is the better Safety than Reggie Nelson at this point and their biggest need.

    18. Cincinnati: Greg Olsen TE Miami
They probably could go defense here, but a receiving TE would make this offense more dangerous. They have 2 great starters at WR, a good backfield and QB. With Chris Henry?s career in jeopardy due to him being a thug and Kelley Washington gone, they need a 3rd threat in the receiving core.

    19. Tennessee: Robert Meachem WR Tennessee
WR might unquestionably be their biggest need especially since Drew Bennett left. They could go for a CB, but they signed Nick Harper who isn?t as old as his age suggests. The Titans tend to draft a lot of guys out of the University of Tennessee, and if he?s sitting at #19, he?ll likely be the pick.

    20. NY Giants: Darrelle Revis CB Pittsburgh
Sure LB might be their biggest need, but they are also in need of a CB. They simply can?t pass on Revis here. He?s a big, physical corner that worked out well at his Pittsburgh Pro Day that included a 40-time of 4.39.

    21. Denver: Levi Brown OT Penn St.
He falls a little far, but the Broncos couldn?t let him get any further. They traded George Foster, so RT has become a need. Matt Lepsis is a great player, but he?s up there in age. Brown can play on the left or right side.

    22. Dallas: Chris Houston CB Arkansas
This might be a BPA situation here. Terrence Newman is a good starter and Anthony Henry too is decent, but he might move to safety. Houston should play nickel or dime back to start, but should be able to work his way up to the starting role.

    23. Kansas City: Ted Ginn Jr. WR Ohio St.
The Chiefs could use a playmaker on offense. There are plenty of other ways to go with this pick also, but they can?t let Ginn fall this far. He reminds me of Dante Hall with more potential as a receiver. Damon Huard or Brodie Croyle needs all the help he can get. Don?t discount Justin Blalock or Joe Staley here either.

    24. New England: Eric Weddle S/CB Utah
Reach? Maybe a little at most, but why shouldn?t this guy he a first round pick? He?s a great team player and a hard worker from what I?ve read. He has good speed and has played multiple positions effectively at Utah which included CB or Safety. I love this pick for them.

    25. NY Jets: Aaron Ross CB Texas
I have a feeling this won?t go over too well, but even though Mangini is a secondary guy, getting a first round talent is still a good idea. I don?t like us going WR or TE here since we have 3 good starters and Brad Smith with good potential as a slot guy. A 3rd consecutive offensive line pick in Round 1 seems a bit much, and we?ll pick up another OL in the 2nd round. There are no worthy Nose Tackles and there isn?t a high need for an OLB anymore. Aaron Ross is the best choice here.

    26. Philadelphia: Dwayne Bowe WR LSU
With Donte Stallworth now in New England, the Eagles are in need of a starting WR. They have a bunch of solid slot guys, but Reggie Brown is their only starter. Dwayne Bowe has great size and could become the top target they have lacked since Terrell Owens was released.

    27. New Orleans: Lawrence Timmons LB Florida St.
Despite making a signing here and there, the Saints? linebacking core is still mediocre and could use a playmaker. Timmons is versatile and a great value here. CB is another possibility, but there is nobody worth this spot. Timmons is also one of the BPAs.

    28. New England: David Harris ILB Michigan
Another surprise by New England, but Harris?s stock is rising. He worked out very well in the off-season and looks like a 2nd rounder at least. The Pats need youth at linebacker inside and outside. Harris is a strong tackler and has the size to play inside in a 3-4.

    29. Baltimore: Ryan Kalil C USC
This is a bit of a surprise here, but it makes sense. Kalil is versatile and has played guard as well. His stock has risen also over the off season and the Ravens will potentially need a center. They just got Chris Chester and also have Jason Brown, but they look like the Guards this season. Joe Staley might also be a pick to think about with Jon Odgen getting up there and possibly retiring.

    30. San Diego: Reggie Nelson S Florida
Great value here for the Chargers which need a safety. Terrence Kiel was released and Marlon McCree didn?t have a great season. They could go WR here as well, but safety is the biggest need at this point.

    31. Chicago: Dwayne Jarrett WR USC
This is a bigger need than some think. Muhsin Muhammad is in his 30s and Bernard Berrian is the only other starter. Mark Bradley is a good slot receiver, but past that, WR is a big need. Jarrett could add another dimension to the Bears offense that they badly need.

    32. Indianapolis: Jon Beason OLB Miami
This is a major need since Cato June found a home in Tampa a few weeks ago. A linebacker from The U? is hard to pass on given the success of others recently. Don?t discount WR here. Marvin Harrison is in his 30s now and while he has some more good years left it seems and Reggie Wayne is a Pro Bowler opposite him, there is a void in Indy?s crucial slot role left by Brandon Stokely. A WR becomes a slot guy and eventually a starter if all goes well.

    NY JETS
    1. Aaron Ross CB Texas
I have a feeling this won’t go over too well, but even though Mangini is a secondary guy, getting a first round talent is still a good idea. I don’t like us going WR or TE here since we have 3 good starters and Brad Smith with good potential as a slot guy. A 3rd consecutive offensive line pick in Round 1 seems a bit much, and we’ll pick up another OL in the 2nd round. There are no worthy Nose Tackles and there isn’t a high need for an OLB anymore. Aaron Ross is the best choice here. Chris Houston would be a better option, but it's likely he might not be around.

2a. Jason Hill WR Washington St
The Jets might need some WR depth. It looks like McCariens might be cut at some point and the same goes for Tim Dwight. There are two great starters, but depth and slot is a question. I like Brad Smith to step into that role, but can he be counted on already? Hill has great speed, is an over achiever and a deep threat. He seems like a good fit and will add a playmaking threat to the offense

2b. Josh Beekman OG Boston College
Whether it be upgrading the RG spot or eventually supplanting Pete Kendal at the LG spot, Beekman will likely contribute. He was an effective run and pass blocker in college and a member of the highly regarded BC offensive line.

    3. Allen Barbe OT Missouri Southern St
This guy is a sleeper from a DII school, a level which he dominated. He is extremely athletic and ran a 4.84 at the combine. He likely won’t start soon, but could potentially step into the RT role at some point. He’s a project, but his athleticism is hard to ignore and he only falls this far due to the level he played at in college

    5. Matt Spaeth TE Minnesota
He seems like a perfect compliment to Chris Baker. He is known for his blocking skills, which is what we need from a TE. I doubt he’s a starter, but should be an effective #2 TE.

    6. David Patterson DE/DT Ohio St.
He sounds like a good prospect for the 3-4. He played for a great program and might have been overshadowed in Ohio St. Should be a solid depth guy at least… His NFLDraftCountdown scouting report looked great and sounds like a guy we could go after.

*7. Jacob Ford DE/OLB Central Arkansas*
If we were to acquire a 7th round pick for either McCareins or any other small deal along the way, which I see as a possibility, we get another project. He too came from a small school and has the measurables to play 3-4 OLB. He was somewhat productive in college and could be around thi

A couple of things. Tell me about Ross Im not familiar with him. Second thing is Jason Hill does not have much projectablity here. I rather go for an OLB over here since there are a lot of talented players who will fall since there is a lot of OLB depth. Loved the Beekman pick, I would do cartwheels if this guy fell.

Last I saw, Scott Wright had him closer to our 3rd round pick in his latest mock. If not him, Craig Davis from LSU... He's a very close second option.

I don't see us taking OLB for a few reasons.
    1. We signed David Bowens and Andre Wadsworth (Who had an extremely impressive interview on Sirius Radio tonight that I got to listen to).
    2. We might run more of a hybrid 3-4/4-3 defense this year from what I heard.
    3. Bryan Thomas played very well.
    4. Victor Hobson played well.
    5. We even signed those 2 guys.

What I know about Ross: He was not always a starter. He won the Jim Thorpe award last season (Sound familiar........?), has great size and is a somewhat physical corner. His stock has been on the rise. I'd even prefer Chris Houston or Darrelle Revis, but Ross sounds like a good player anyway.

Not a fan of this draft at all. I like Beekman, but none of the guys seems to be in the right place.

Patterson isn't all that good, and in this draft there should be better developmental prospects in the 6th than him (Jay Richardson for example).

We have a TE very similar to Spaeth in Sean Ryan. Pluss, I think Kevin Boss is a much better compliment to Baker.

I like the Barbe pick, but I think it's too early. We should get some very high potential prospects at OLB, WR, CB, or OL in the third, and I think theres better at each (DeOssie, Mike Walker, Ramirez, etc.).

The 1st round is pretty good, except for the Reggie Nelson thing. No way Griffin AND Weddle go in front of him, he is easily the consensus #2 safety, and also the Levi Brown thing. I think he will almost definitely go to the Texans, no doubt.

As for our draft I like it, except I think Barbre is a little to high, although I like him as a prospect. Overall, very nice job though.

What makes him the consensus 2nd overall safety? Reggie Nelson only had one good season. Michael Griffin had a few great ones.

I wouldn't say it's that high... Check NFLDraftCountdown.com for example...

I personally like Michael Griffin and Eric Weddle more than him.

Yeah but where is Nelson drafted compared to Griffin or Weddle? Nelson is 22 overall, Griffin is 26 overall and Weddle is 48 overall. I guess you can make a case for Griffin, but definitely not Weddle. I like him too, but not more than Nelson. And Nelson supposedly had an amazing pro day. There is no way Nelson goes past #24 with the Pats.

Maybe not likely, but the Pats have made some interesting picks in the past on draft day... Don't be surprised if they go for versatility, production and work ethic over a lousy student who isn't known to be intelligent.

He's not a good fit for the Pats IMO. He isn't a great tackler either, and you need to be to play SS. He's a better fit at FS, which the Pats don't need at all.

    http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/s/reggienelson.html

Odds are he'll be the second safety chosen though as you and many others say, but I'm not a fan of him and would prefer Weddle and Griffin over him personally.

And I can and will make a case for Weddle. It's only one mock draft. He likely won't go as high as Nelson, but I'd take Weddle in the late 1st.

I dont know, I'd personally be having FITS if we draft Ross over Jarrett. I'd rather see the first three picks go like:

    1. Jarrett
    2. Beekman
    3. Josh Wilson

I saw that Reggie Nelson ran around a 4.35 at his Pro Day.... Looks like he'll go Top 15 or 20 now....

    Any more feedback?

Yeah I had him pegged him going to the Panthers at 14.
