1st Round- Darrelle Revis-CB (Pitt)-Pro Comparison-Chris McAlister One of are biggest needs and he wiould be a great guy to fill it.A physical corner who plays the run well.alos can help out on kickoffs and punt returns as he did that well in college.http://youtube.com/watch?v=vV3g2Z-0ExA Agreessive hitter and plays bigger than his size. 2nd Round- Quentin Moses-OLB (Georgia)-Pro Comparison-Terrell Suggs A fallen prospect and even though we have signed Bowens i still think we another OLB and i dont think that Bowens would be a full-time stater just a rotation guy really. At the beggining of the season Quentin Moses was chosen as a top 10 senior prospect by Mel Kiper, and was actually ahead of Gaines Adams. But due to a sub-par season in which he only had 4.5 sacks Moses has fallen.Still has great talent and plays like he did in his jr. year he would be a steal. 2nd Round- Eric Eright-CB (UNLV)-Pro Comparison-Pacman Jones As much as i want Justin Miller to be our top corner it may just be that he will only be a great kick returner. Why another cornerback well i dont see anybody that will be available that deserves to be chosen that high.I thought about a guard like Manuel Ramirez but i dont think he fits our o-line he's a very big at 330 and is not very athletic.I think Manigini would prefer a more athletic o-line so i think he wont be picked by us.Eric Wright originally came out of USC but left after he was suspected of rape, it never was proven though. If he stayed at USC he would have beenn a sure first rounder. 3rd Round- Mike Walker-WR (UCF)-Pro Comparison-Anquan Boldin Probably too high for some but we dont have a 4th and our 5th is too low and he will probably be gone. A great prospect who was great physical tools and could be the next Marques Colston.Too bad he wont be because alot of people are talking about him unlike colston last year.Could end up being the deep threat we need. 5th Round- Marvin White-S (T.C.U.)-Pro Comparison-Ken Hamlin Hard hitting safety who was a a JUCO All-American at Kilgore College.good speed at the combine at 4.53 and has a ll the physical tools to be good.It ssems like no matter what we get a saftey in the mid-rounds so im just continuing the tradition with this pick.
6th Round- Ramonce Taylor-ATH-Pro Comparison-Reggie Bush Former Texas star who won a national championship with Vince Young in 05.#11 is a great talent who got in some academic trouble at Texas and had to transfer after his sophmore year and didnt play D-1 football in 06.If he stayed at Texas would have been a Reggie Bush type playing runningback and reciever.Stayed in shape and played football for another school and was invited to the NFL Combine and ran a 4.5 flat.Could end being a great utility player and a steal since he has so much talent.
i really like your picks, although for me, i go LaMarr Woodley instead of Moses. I also think you have to address the O-line somewhere. I'm not so sure about drafting a safety, but that's only b/c I'd rather get some o-line depth there I think. also, i don't really feel we need two first day corners...seems a little overkill to me, i'd also like to address the o-line there (prob with the 1st rounder instead of revis) if those were the positions we were drafting though, i love the players you picked (with the exception of the woodley for moses switch i would make). ive had my doubts about revis, but i really like wright, walker sounds like a great player, as does white, and i like taylor a lot
Love the first two picks. Woodley is a safer bet than Moses but with Bowens on board we can afford to take the risk and take the guy with a higher ceiling. Woodley seems more like a NYJ system player though and you can't discount the fact the linebackers coach was Michigan's defensive coordinator before last year. I don't like taking 2 corners with our first 3 picks and think the 3rd pick has to be another area of need. A guard like Ramirez or Beekman to push Moore is the best way to go I think.
I don't understand why they'd bring in two cornerbacks within the first two rounds, much less one with character issues as severe as Wright (the same goes for Taylor as well). They need to adress the OL early on, like a few people said, replace Wright with an OG like Beekman and we're OK.
Revis won't be there anymore, which is too bad. Where's the OL? We should draft 2 offensive lineman in the draft IMO, but at least one with one of our first 3 picks. Quentin Moses is OK, but I'd rather another OLB if we go for one, which I doubt we do since we just signed David Bowens. I'm open to the idea though. Two CBs?? We have a lot of CBs and only need one to possibly start. Eh............ Sorry, but I don't like it....
Why does every draft prospect get compared to elite players? If all these guys came close to being as good as the guys they're compared to, we'd have ourselves a Pro-Bowl team and a dynasty.
I actually like this draft, but I think we need a big O-lineman in there. Wright > Revis anyway. Might as well grab Blalock in the first. Moses and Walker are going to be sick pros. Walker is getting Andre Johnson comparisons for his size, speed, jumping ability, and hands. Moses has potential up the ass and he's a strong character guy. I think he's going to be a good player. Honestly, I think people are focusing way too much on his sack numbers. His 12.5 TFL can't be ignored considering he was double teamed so much this year.
Yeah i just try to compare the players with someone with the same style of play and size.Im not saying any of these players will turn into the people i put as their pro comparisons just an idea of who they are as a player.
I get what alot of u guys are saying about O-line but again i dont see nayone being worthy of the pick at 59 or 63. I think Beekman will be gone by our 1st pick in the 2nd and after him the talent level as far as O-lineman falls. And as far as depth we dont need depth we dont need another starter not just another 5th round guy who is gonna play bench.Whats the point, take someone who has a chance of being a steal not a depth pick. And as far as taking Wright in the 2nd, i think Mangini will take the best player available at a need pick, which would be cb,nt,olb,wr. Wright would be a steal at that pick, even if we pick Revis in the 1st.Look at our off-season so far we have signed 4 de's.Would 2 corners in the first 2 rounds really be that crazy.
I think 2 CBs in 3 picks given the depth we already have would be nuts... And there are plenty of offensive lineman worthy on Day 1....
Also he had a little more issues than just academics, I remember something about an arrest for a felony drug possession.
Obviously u didnt read thoroughly the way reggie is used as a rb and a reciever at USc and New Orleans, Taylor was used the same at Texas in 05.And really is there that much difference in a 4.5 and a 4.3 both are fast as hell anyway.
