#1 he'd play OLB as someone else said.

#2 Kenyon Coleman is going to surprise alot.

#3 This guy missed the entire season for putting in a lightbulb and fell off the ladder.

Not too crazy about this, that's a great contract for a backup...Yuck.

Why? I think it is a wonderful approach. Bowens fits the 3-4 better than Barton, and is a natural pass rusher, which Barton is not.

Good signing. But no way should we even consider going DE in the draft now, we have signed a ton in FA.

I agree about kenyon colemen, i was extremely happy about that signing as well, i think he is going to be a great addition to our d. But u cant say coleman wont be a good player for us, he seems like hes going to fit this system great.

I think Bowens would be used more as a situational pass rusher much like what he was back in Miami. I'd be a bit wary of him having any bigger role than that.

And what's the deal with all the knocks on Barton? He's been more than solid for us last season, and is a more rounded player than Bowens. Hell, if anybody, Vilma was the weak link at the LB spot last year.

Regardless, I'm happy with the signing. The pass rush has been a particular concern, so it's good to see the FO making an effort to patch that up.

It's just a good signing because it's another pass rusher and provides depth.

Bowens has been underrated by people on this board. He played the same position as Jason Taylor, that's why he never got his opportunity as a starter. He had something like 18 sacks in 3 years as a backup.

    He'll make a good 3-4 OLB.

This is a very good move. HE IS an OLB in the 34. Two of his former coaches are on this staff. He played out of position in MIA PLUS at MICHIGAN he was a beast as an OLB. GREAT MOVE.

Solid addition for the Jets. As a rotational DE, he'll provide very strong depth for the Jets in my opinion. We really liked him in Miami, not so much as an everydown player on the DL, but as a reliable player who creates good pressure on the Qb when he gets his chances to do so. Good signing.....

He's 265 lbs which is ideal size for a 3-4 OLB, also nice to take one away from blowfish

I wouldn't be too sure. We can use one really talented young guy in camp to push all the old guys. Behind QB, it's arguably the most important position on the field. The Giants draft one first every year it seems. These days, without a pass rush you're dead, and we don't have one...at least we didn't last year and we haven't exactly added any Bruce Smiths or anything.

Well think about it...53 man roster and something like 109 million cap means...an average of 2 million per player...now if we have a bunch of 4-5 million plus players (eg. thomas, d-slob, ellis, chad, thomas, coles, cotchery), where are the sub-2 million guys...anyone being paid the average cap amount should be a starter or at least a very big role player.

Anyway...if this guy can rush the passer like we've heard, he'll be one of the best signings of the FA period...ala Jabe, but cheaper, or he could rest on his fat contract and become another slowhoffen. Myself, I got high hopes!

This is all good, but don't we still need a mauling oak tree in the middle of the D Line?

No. We need more defensive ends.

He's not. There's no one on the roster right now that should threatened Barton's starting spot. Hobson is the guy Bowens will be competing with.
