Somebody is going to have to fill me in on all the definitions of baller because I've heard it use about 40 different ways.
If Alan Branch drops to 25 you're the queen of merry ole england. k? I enjoy your posts because your ridiculousness engages me to reply and thus you aided me in reaching my minimum 50 posts. cheers!
Just what have Ko Simpson, and Jean Gilles done better than E Smith? I admit Schlagel hasnt seen the fiels enough so I can agree with you on him I think Anderson has been great , but so what?Last seasons draft was good.We are not going to get it right with every SINGLE pick, but I am happy with what we have managed to get out of Brad Smith. Leon, Mangold Da Brick. I am sure this season they will do well also.We just have to make sure we get into the 4th round. I want to have motivation for sitting behind the TV on Sunday April 29th!!!!!
Why are you so sure? Because of the Mock drafts have him there? The same sites that have listed guys as 1st and high 2nd round picks up until draft day, only to have some of them not even being drafted. Remember those 1st/2nd rounders from other years-- Ernest Shazor, Hank Baskett, Rod Wright, John Scott, Martin Nance, Antaaj Hawthorne, Gabe Watson, Max Jean Gilles, Ko Simpson, Charles Gordon, Gregg Eslinger etc. Don't be a Jerk--
Gilles didn't do a thing last year, but I would certainly love to have him waiting to come in and play for us this hear. Ko Simpson was great though-- 76 tackles, 2 picks, 1 Forced Fumble, 1 sack. If we drafted him, and he put up those numbers-- he could possible have been our best rookie in year 1.
You could say that any arbitrary player that we rate as first rounders could fall on draft day then, there's no argument there. As for Simpson, Buffalo's secondary was a black hole, he was going to start there no matter what; what he'd have done as a Jet is debatable. I doubt he'd have been that much better than Coleman early on that the staff would have sat Erik down; and without that PT he wouldn't have progressed nearly as fast as he did. Though still I wouldn't say he was great, he was good, very good for where he was taken certainly.
What I was saying is that Mocks are often so wrong to the point that they are not even credible. Mocks have branch going early-- However, I have read that he looked like hell in the Pro day- have read that several NFL scouts had him graded as a Mid round pick, Kiper has him out of the top 25, he was flabby at the combine-- (I can confirm his man-boobs too) and was in poor shape. So, yes, based on that, can see him dropping to 25, if not further. I would take him early, I love him, but I think he'll fall to us, and we'll pass. As for simpson-- I said, if we drafted him, AND HE PUT UP THOSE NUMBERS he would possibly have been our best rookie. Getting into weather he would have played enough to get those stats is another discussion.
Dude, I will hammer you in any football discussion. Check my history-- I always support my arguments well- right or wrong.
The facts are is that there are too many teams changing to the 34 that do not have a nose tackle. If you need a nose tackle, your options are limited. Personally, I don't think Branch lasts past the 49ers at 11. I don't think its a fair assessment to compare Branch to Gabe Watson. Watson's character issues were 10x. Watson was even the news this week for ripping off one of his teachers. IMHO Branch the only way Branch falls to the Jets is if he starts doing something like sucking the blood of unborn fetus to gain strength.
First of I HIGHLY doubt he will drop to 25 but you have to take best available at 25 if there is a player THAT talented at that position
When Provoked, I'm a total dick. When people come back at me, it's with insults, not football knowledge... when they do, they get buried. I go out on a limb, and don't have the same BS arguments as others on here- like "what would you rather do, draft Leonard, or trade for Turner." That shit is BORING. I like debating- I'm good at it- and the lame responses on here prove it to me. Everyone has something slick to say, but nobody wants to get into a football argument with me. check back into my history- I always have something to support my arguments with- unlike the others on here who recycle the same BS, and change their story daily. Same suckers who were screaming for A. Thomas were making threads about how "this is the real story on A. Thomas" 3 minutes after the pats signed him. MAN UP!! Shit is pathetic.
I think we'll take Branch at 25 if he's there. None of those guys had character issues, but laziness IS an issue. Max Jean Gilles was considered a first round talent before his senior year. What did he do? He sat on his fat ass, ran a subpar workout, and dropped like a rock. I don't know if he got injured, but he didn't play a snap for the Eagles last year. Whatever the reason, it tells you a lot about a guy when he won't muster up some motivation to get in shape and perform when millions of dollars are on the line. We didn't NEED Ko Simpson in round 3. Simpson was certainly a nice player, but we already had Rhodes and Coleman. The Bills had no superior starters and were essentially an overachieving rebuilding team. You can't judge a guy who didn't start on a single season. I thought Smith did a decent job in a backup role. Schlegel sucks, no doubt about it. Reach pick. Watson is a nice player but let's not christen him Lord and Savior of the 3-4 just yet. Would I have liked to have him? Sure, but it's not as if he was contending for the Pro Bowl as a rookie. Is character the most important thing? No, but when you're dealing with fat guys who show a predilection for laziness, you might want to make an investment in a guy who wants it more. I see your overall point, but we're not always going to draft the guys you want. On the plus side, Brad Smith looks like he could turn out to be an absolute steal. We got an extra pick that we turned into a legitimate running back, and Drew Coleman, a draft day afterthought, performed fairly well considering his size and draft position. -X-
2 things-- 1. Me making note of us passing on Gabe Watson does not mean I have "christend him Lord and Savior of the 3-4", I mention him because he and Branch are very similar in the fact that they are both fat, and sloppy looking, and apparently in poor shape. 2. How can you support the Eric Smith pick, but say that we didn't need Ko Simpson? Do you know who I'm talking about? He had a sick year- 76 tackes, 2 ints, 1 sack, 1 ff. It's not even a debate who's better between those two guys-- but again, we reached, and took the Character (white) guy. You know on draft day last year you were screaming for Watson and Gilles in round 3, and were pissed at Schlegal/Smith. Maybe you weren't, but I can gaurantee you weren't crossing your fingers hoping we pick AS and ES.
I think it's debatable who the better player is.... And why did you mention that we took the character (white) guy? Is that important?
Dude, I can look back at every draft and say who the Jets should have chosen. Plus if we did draft Ko Simpson his ass would be sitting on the bench behind Kerry Rhodes at FS anyway.
Well, that wasn't hindsight-- that is what I wanted to do last year on draft day- if we drafted Simpson, he wouldn't be sitting behind Rhodes-- he would be starting alongside of him over Coleman.
