No, I was expecting them to spend at least some money on somebody who might actually play. It looks like their intention is to spend whaever they have on people who have no chance and will be cut before they break camp. Genius.

I like this signing. He has great size and strength for the 3-4, and might actually fit as a rotation end perfectly. Seems to me he might fit the 3-4 way better than he hits the 4-3.

    Plus, he's only 27.

The 3-4 DE position MAY be his position that he can fit in best......he played in a 4-3 scheme where he didn't really fit, and hopefully this change will help him.....the guy obviously has talent being that he was drafted in the 1st round and he is still young, so let's see if Mangini can work his magic ala Bryan Thomas before calling him nothing more than Traing Camp fodder.....he should, at the very least, be able to beat Kimo for a backup job, but I like this move a lot......it has some potential, we'll see.

Yeah but the Jets would have had Ty Warren and the 22 and a 4th round pick if they just held on to what they had...

  11. Only problem w/ that is Ty Warren was graded about a full grade letter less than D rob, and didnt fit in the 4-3 as well which at the time we were running.

    Hindsight is 20/20.

You can call it whatever you want but were you even alive the last time the Jets won a SB. I watched it and have been pained by every off season since.

Excuse me if I don't jump out of my chair in excitement. Haynes will make for good competition in training camp and unless he becomes a Mangini-man fast he's gonna find himself on the 2nd or 3rd string and maybe the practice squad. I don't know squat about this guy but lets just put it like this:

The Bears dropped a first round pick on him at 14 which is pretty high up in a draft. Granted it was a bad year but still, he was a first round pick and rotoworld.com described him as "bouncing around the league."

    To me, that screams "BUST!"

I was 4 years from being born, but that's meaningless in this discussion actually.

Dude, if you're such a veteran, hardcore football fan...wouldn't you realize that the Jets are not only heading in the right direction but that FA has never garaunteed anything?

These are all smart, cheap, signings. I'd much rather we get our big guns through the draft anyway.

this could actually end up working out for the better... he was great in college and maybe with the right coaching and system he will flourish.... who knows.

And that mentality is why we haven't been back to the SB since 1969.
