So, I just was trying to research more on this iconic Jet, and here is what I found. From wiki: . Yup. That is the whole wiki page. From longsnap.com And the most interesting James Dearth tidbit... http://www.lifeathletes.org/0008/welcome.asp We salute you James!
My man can snap with the best of them. Actually you don't realize how important a good snapper is until you get a bad one. My kids also got his autograph when the Jets came to SUNY Albany two years ago. He was very friendly to them. A real nice guy.
Bunch of savages in this town...Good for him. Not only do we have a great longsnapper, but a humanitarian too. *melt*
Ive had the pleasure of meeting Dearth and his brother before. I used to work at Blockbuster Video near Hofstra University in Garden City. He used to come in all the time during summer training camp. Really nice guy. Thanks to blockbuster I've met Curtis Martin, Dearth, Herm Edwards, Justin Miller, I saw John Vilma sititng in his car and a few others.
He has a great job. He doesnt take the beating like the rest of the guys has had job security and prob makes a nice living. If you good at it being a long snapper is a good gig
I may have been standing near you while he was signing (he signed my nephew's football). He was very friendly and talked with a lot of fans. And you are right about having a good snapper. You know you have a good long snapper when you don't hear his name. People only mention it when he screws up.
Good question, but I don't think he has ever done it. Joel Dreesen was a good long snapper and many thought that he would be the end of Dearth, but he is like that Energizer Bunny. Believe it or not, I think Schlegel has some experience long snapping....
Didn't they just change the rules on place kicking so the defense can't line up directly in front of the center? I thought I read something about that this season and how dangerous the place kicking formation is for the center because he has to start the play with his head down. I bet hes one tough, abstinant sumbitch.
