Well in the mock...we took an O-lineman in the second. You said we should go O-line earlier. The next earliest would be....*blank.*
Do you have a problem with reading comprehension? I will say this again: I think the ONLY Olinemen worth taking IN THIS DRAFT are in the 1st and early 2nd. I NEVER said that the only way to build a line is by getting all 1st rounders as an overall philosophy. You people put the words in my mouth that I was "one of those people who think you have to draft 1st rounders to build an Oline." I never said that in the least. By evaluating this draft, there is none past the high 2nd round that I would take, so since IMO Oline is our biggest need, we should take one sooner than a late 2nd or 3rd. Once again, not again as an overall philosophy JUST IN THIS DRAFT. We are discussing this particular draft, not overall draft philosophy/approach. Do you get it now? I say it for a third time if you need me too.
Dude... What? Who are the guys you think are worth that? And why? Whats wrong with anyone past that? I mean theres Thomas and Blalock with the first round grades, but who else is there in your mind?
And, as I said before, that is where I differ in my evaluation. This draft, IMO, is not that deep OL, and since the Jets need OGs and a RT, there are only 2-3, maybe 4, that I would like to see the FO take. There are none in the later rounds that I personally rate very high. I am not a scout, but just how I see things. That is why I want to see them draft the position sooner, because that is where I think the only value is. And I don't think you can just throw any Olineman in there as a body and get good production. If I saw a player in later rounds that I thought would be great, I would be the first to say so trust me, but I don't.
Who said anything about first round grades? I said 1st or high 2nd. And I said there are between 2-4 that I like. The original poster said he would have taken an OL until the Jets second 2nd rounder (63 - I like Blalock much more than Ramirez). I don't want to wait that long, just my opinion, if I had my way I would take Blalock, or hope someone falls to the first 2nd, or maybe trade up a few spots in the 2nd. Because if FA is any indication, quality Olinemen are going to be flying off the board. From what I see there are no OL that blow me away deeper in the draft, no real diamonds in the rough, at least not this year. But once I am not a scout, and don't have access to evaluations of guys projected to go in the 4th round. Just based on what I think are team needs and how I see the players, I would want them to address it sooner. Not sure why so many of you have a problem with taking OL high, you all act like it is a crime not to wait for the 3rd to take an OL (I heard the same thing last year by the way with people riding me for wanting Brick and Mangold, so I am used to this by now).
Yes...and I asked the names of the guys you're thinking of... And I'm the one who needs reading comp. classes... BTW: You weren't the only one supporting the D'Brick and Mangold picks last year...and the problem with taking so many O-line high is that: 1. Eventually, you're paying alot for them, and considering that our need is guard and RT...we def. shouldn't be. 2. Guards/RTs in general are easier to find than great LT/C prospects like D'Brick and Mangold. 3. You're not giving the other O-line guys in this draft (whoever they actually are to you) enough credit at all. 1. Guards can be found later in the draft. 2. We used two first round picks on O-line last year. 3. Besides Blalock -
Who else has Mangini produced besides Samuel? To say he notorious for it would mean he's pumped out 2 or 3 good corners. Also, I see things the other way around. I see Ross getting drafted early and Revis falling to our spot becuase of the fact that he may draw too many penalties in the pros. Of all the CB's out there the one that intrigues me is Houston. He completely shut down Jarrett and Meachem this past season in a big way.
DUDE you speak out both sides of your mouth.......Aaron Ross/ HUH??? link provided. QUOTE=Martin&theJET;515336]i hate it. we dont need a CB What a JOKE!!!
calm down. i didnt realize that barrett might be done as a jet. but my opinion has changed since 3/20. you dont have to throw a hissy fit.
I am against the Jets drafting any DE's, especially that early in the draft, it's not a need. What the jets need is a big DT, we have enough DE's.
#25. Aaron Ross: he is just like J-Mill, athletic and a bit stupid, rather get one of the other corners or get Wilson in the second #59. Lamarr Woodley: Great pick but doubt he is there #63. Manuel Ramirez: Good pick, will be there #89. Ikaika Alama Francis: Awesome, but will be long gone here
