I was bored today between classes, so I sat down in the lovely Rutgers student center and began reading through my draft guides; of course, in no time I was inspired to do my fistr Jets mock of the year. I'm not really the type to do many mocks, especially solely Jets ones, so consider it a blessing that you not only get one of mine, nor two, but three 7 round Jet mock drafts. A little disclaimer, I only had the same player/position getting picked in the same spot once in any of the drafts, so really a mixing and matching is more than possible. I just wanted three totally different outlooks.

Scenario 1: I call it the Old Hat Mangini.

    1. Anthony Spencer, OLB Pudue. Natural passrusher is a great fit character wise, need, and value.
2a. Josh Beekman, OG Boston College. The perfect OG for the Jets, a powerhouse that can start at RG right now.
2b. Justin Harrell, DE Tennessee. Good size at 6-4, 305 and knows how to hold his ground, a valuable addition for the future.
    3. James Marten, OT Boston College. Going back to the well on this, needs some time to develop, but could be an overpowering Right Tackle.
    5. Travarous Bain, CB Hampton. Former Hurricane, great natural talent, great shot at being the next small school stud.
    6. Jeff Rowe, QB Nevada. Rowe can do a little bit of everything, plus he's an experiences QB that can learn as the 3.
    7. Matt Trannon, WR Michigan St. Solely as a project, the type of player that could go very far in a disciplined system.

    Scenario 2: Flashy Mangini

    1. Justin Blalock, OG Texas. Best interior lineman in the draft, is an automatic starter.
2a. Quentin Moses, OLB Georgia. Has some concerns over dropoff in play, but a top 15 talent in the entire class. A great fit.
2b. Craig Davis, WR LSU. Overshadowed WR, very consistent with some very good speed. Fits like a glove with Coles and Cotchery.
    3. David Irons, CB Auburn. Arrogant as they come, and he'll need every bit of it.
    5. Chase Johnson, OT Wyoming. Developmental RT prospect, one of the few lower OTs not lacking in strength potential.
    6. Joe Cohen, DE Floruda. Partial starter for the world champs, could turn into a solid cog in a 3-4 defense with his size and physical ability.
    7. Zac Taylor, Nebraska. Not much of a gunslinger but the type of QB that hangs around as a backup for 12-15 years.

    Scenario 3: Bold Mangini

    1. Aaron Ross, CB Texas. Probably will be the 4th or 5th corner off the board, hopefully turns out better than the last Jet Thorpe winner.
2a. Josh Beekman, OG Boston College. I'm sorry, he's perfect.
2b. LaMarr Woodley, OLB Michigan. In this one I pretend Moses gets taken, so they go with Woodley as the backup plan. Needs to show he can play in space.
    3. David Clowney, WR Virginia Tech. Terrific speed, might not ever be more than a slot guy, but that's all he has to be for the short term.
    5. Jordan Palmer, QB UTEP. Go QB a little early and get one with some serious potential. Doesn't have his brother's skills, but can start somewhere down the line.
    6. Dan Parrish, OT FAMU. Sleeper prospect, brings a lot to the table as a Right Tackle, just an absolute mauler.
    7. Brian Daniels, OG Colorado. Another OG to develop for Pete Kendall, this time last year Daniels was at the top of the class.

So that's it, a lot of other players that I was looking at, I wish I could have had in there. Tomorrow I'll try and post a list of the almost players, all of which I'm sure the Jets are taking a hard look at.

I'll be the first to say that I don't think these can be picked apart. Very nice job. I'd be happiest with Old Hat mangini i think, but I'm not sure.

Me too. Love the Beekman pick too. The scouts all say he has short arms but MORE than makes up for it with technique and power. Not may weaknesses at all.
    Nice draft

I love the fact that you address the OLB in every scenario.

If we had the Old Hat day one, I'd be thrilled. Great job.

What happened to our 4th rounder?

I think all of these draft are solid, with my only critisicm being around the lack of a Nose Tackle selection anywhere in the 3 drafts. Paul Soliai perhaps instead of a 4th QB on our roster?

I like Bold Mangini - Ross, Beekman & Woodley is sick!

I think the first one is the best one, but I doubt Marten is still there in the third. The first one fills everyone of our needs.

Im defintley taking scenario 1. Love the trannon pick late, i think mangini would be a good coach for him. I also would want to take a project NT in the later rounds. someone like Quinton Echols or Soliai. Good job, Good analysis.
