Twelve Words... Kyle Brady never ran or caught the ball like this kid can... You can't use Kyle Brady as an excuse to not draft a TE... If you don't like Greg Olsen maybe use some facts to make your case or tell us why we should look to another position.
Kyle Brady wasnt from Miami he went to Penn State and he wasnt a mean player though he was a good block and a streaky catcher. in my opinion he was the last best tight end we had aside from Baker. you can see in a player that once the get the ball they just want to keep going you gonna have to hit them to make a tackle. Reminds me of J Shockey and we need that attitude here
To comment on the draft... I really like Aaron Ross...I have been watching some of his tape and he really looks like a complete CB. I have a Greg Olsen avatar up, but that doesn't mean I would be against getting a football player like Ross. I would be very happy if we got him...probably more than any other CB in the draft. Alot of people are forgetting about Lamar Woodley, but this guy is a good defensive player. I think we would be very lucky to get him in the late second round...I think he will be snatched up in the Mid 2nd round. If he is there though I would be all for it. He and Thomas on the edge would be great. RG is a hole because Moore played pretty badly this year. So if this guy is good as everyone says he is...I am all for it. The last pick sounds like a stretch as aot of people are starting to get high on this guy...DE is a need as we don't know how much longer Ellis will last as he is starting to lose his speed (IMO)...
Because, in my humble opinion, Oline is still our most glaring need. We were 30th in rushing last year. And, as far as I see it, that had more to do with run blocking than our RB situation (even though they solved that positional need with Jones). And when you look at run blocking you look at RT first, and Clement. Who I think is vastly overrated by people on this board. I don't think he is very good and is nowhere near the player he once was. But since there is no RT I would take in the 1st, I would then move to OG. Moore is average on a good day. He had more penalties last year than both rookies combined. Kendall is old and maybe has one more starting year left. (If you haven't guessed by now, I tend to focus on the Oline). So I would like to see the first 2 picks used on OL, then the second 2nd rounder on a DT, and the 3rd on a CB. Championships teams are built from the lines outward, and the work they started last year is no where near done (and you can thank 5 years of neglect from the Herm/Bradway regime for that). But that is my opinion, it is not set in concrete. Just what I see as the needs of this team, and he asked for comments and I gave him some.
Aaron Ross would be a good pick though i think he would pull double duties as a corner and a punt returner as well
last year we choose Ferguson and Manigold now everybody was all over us for choosing Ferguson and claimed we could of waited to get Mcneil or somebody later in the rounds. Well i feel the same lineman are a Dime a dozen so we could wait til late 2nd early third for a pick at OL.. i think Joe Staley will still be around then he is very fast even though he is a LT we could move him to RT because of his quickness.
He was a mediocre college player with good combine numbers. Guys like that come out every single year. If he is an earth shattering once every few years talent, that should have translated to better than mediocre college numbers. It is not like he is going to face lesser competition in the pro's............ no way no how should our FO take him with the 1st pick. The biggest Jets needs remain the lines then CB another quality LB etc.. Really it is not like the Jets can afford to pass on the BPA anyhow. In reality there are still quite a few upgrades to make. I agree with Coach K on his assesment of Coles except I think his demise will even be sooner. 2 Years tops for Coles. No one can keep taking head shots like that and survive in the NFL. Unless of course KC or another guy with a better arm comes in for whatever reason and Coles does not have to wait on the pass. Again this is not to bring this to an I hate Chad level because I do not hate him. It is a fact that some of his passes float and get the WR in a bad spot.
Kyle Brady was a tremendous disappointment but he has played 13 seasons in the NFL. Not too many busts can attest to that.
Its just something about Miami players they have been proven success in the nfl. Every player that comes out of Miami goes back to there training camps during the time off in the Nfl. Nfl can't for some reason compare to there training techniques they have down there. I agree with you we need a CB I would like to pick up Aaron Ross im kinda 50-50 on it with both players it wouldnt matter to me who we choose. Aaron Ross is a great punt returner was watchin him on youtube..
he is a good blocker by far just a lil shakey on catching sometimes but guess where he is at??? New England !!!! so if BB will bring you in you know he knows talent when he sees it.
i dont know, im still on the idea of a te like greg olsen at 25 or like nesquik said if robert meacham is still there get the best value for the pic and pick him up.
come on Greg Olsen ran a 4.47/4.45 at the combine and has excellent hands what more could you want in a TE. Yes he could work on his blocking but he seems to good to pass on if he is around
Who were all over us for taking Ferguson? I wanted Brick and Mangold last year and glad we got him. LT is one of the hardent positions to learn and play on offense. The reason McNeil looked so good was because he went onto a phenomenal Oline. Brick came onto a crappy Oline, an Oline that is still not set yet. And people who are ready to write Brick off already are morons. And if you think lineman are a dime a dozen, then I am speechless. EVERY championship team has been built around great lines, and great offenses need great lines first. Take a look at the Pats, Pittsburgh, Colts, Seattle, Denver, all of the best offenses and perrenial contenders have great lines. Even go back further, the Dallas dynasty, the 49ers dynasty, Pittsburgh, all of the great teams had great lines, this is not by accident. And if they were a dime a dozen then teams like the Cardinals, Oakland, and Texas wouldn't have their QBs on their backs. Shall we recall going through 3 QBs two years ago? That is just how I see things, both lines still need alot of work, and should be the first priority during the draft. You don't see it that way, that's fine. But to say lineman are a dime a dozen is just nonsense. David Carr might disagree with you.
That was all correct. I am also concerned about Coles. I think the Jets should take a receiver somewhere in this draft. A guy who is right up the Jets alley is Anthony Gonzalez.
you act like there are only like 5or 6 lineman in the draft this year. would you agree that if you got a good lineman in the 3rd 4th or 5th wouldnt be good as well. you dont always need to select a lineman in the 1st round my point with McNeil is he wasnt in the first and he is still a good lineman regardless of how his line was in the nfl previously. if you cant block you cant block no matter what pieces are already in place. Yes and i believe lineman are a dime a dozen you just have to know which one is gonna be the most productive with what schemes and plays you tryin to run for you team. its all about the fit of the lineman if he doesnt bond with the other lineman he could be the 1st round first pick but wouldnt mean nothing if they dont gel together
With selecting Greg Olsen for TE with our first round pick he will cause alot of problems with matchups on the Lbs. not alot of lbs will be able to cover him one on one which in turn they would have to slide a Safety or Cb towards his way when he is on the field. which in turn frees up Coles or Cotchery for alot of one on one which equals big plays.
and you go back and look at those lines and tell me how many of them had 3 first rounders on them. Yes it is a fact that you need a great line to be successfull but it is a myth that the only way of building a great OLINE is by using first round picks on them.
