Must say, I know nothing about this guy, but maybe someone can dig something up for us. "Not a real hard worker" is a bit scary, but come on, you don't get to be NT size by being a hard worker.
damn, it seems like all the kids who have good size or can play for the NT spot, are not hard working. a backflip though? lol i want to see that. but hes not even on NFL Draft Countdowns list of DT's. could we get him undrafted?
"Not a real hard worker" also comes attached to "gonna sign a big contract and slack off." I do not want any casual players on the Jets. You're either a hard worker looking to put 100% into your game or you're valueless in my book.
Mangini will light a fire under him...I have no doubt that this coaching staff can get the best out of any player.
just an idea this is just a thought i had, but i think if dewayne robertson shed a few pounds and picked up a step this off season we could move him to the re and pick up a nose tackel in the draft. Dewayne already isnt that slow and if he lost a few pounds he could get quicker. im sure he would be a solid pass rusher...idk does this idea sound completely rediculous?
that is the stated plan of the FO - except for dropping a few pounds. It might be true, it might be a smoke screen, we don't know. It has been debated and has a few pluses and minuses - if you're interested we could get into them. As for LaRon, I did a little research of my own. From the Vols website, circa 2004: from rivals.com, stats are from high school: from some random SEC board, so who knows how legit this assessment is:
Thats a thought that has gone around these boards for a long time.. Robertson did get to play some end last year, and i think he did a pretty nice job. The tricky part is to find a true nose tackle. And thats hard.
I put this info in another thread about him. He only played in 6 of their 10 games last year and recorded 8 tackles and 1/2 a sack. This against lower quality competition. Potential is nothing if you don't have the drive to maximize it.
here's an article about Laron and two other guys that Joe Linta has "uncovered". The gist is: he finds players every eyar that have slipped throgh the crack in some way, probably due to their own immaturity, and finds a home for them. The article amkes me think maybe LaRon isn't the total slug that his numbers suggest: http://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/1246978/detail.html Link includes video of him doing the backflip. Here's the text: Oh, and thanks to Draftdaddy.com AGAIN for this info.
I feel I should mention: draftdaddy really seems to be on this guy and a few other Joe Linta players in a way that no other draft site is - which makes me think that the guy "Scout" who is feeding THEM this information might be Joe LInta himself. THEREFORE: take any info on LaRon with a grain of salt.
Yeah its bad for Nose Tackles. But if the Jets were gonna deal DRob away, we would've done it by now or there'd be rumors that he was on the block. He may be a draft-day casualty, but I highly doubt it. He's learning the system and he can bulk up. We traded an entire draft away to get him... he's too valuable.
Nobody was talking about dealing drob, he would just move to end. which alot of people feel he could excel at because of his explosivness and passrusing ability.
