Actually, I've heard Eric Wright was pretty much a changed man once he transferred. Maybe he grew up a little? Anyway: Can't believe the Jags chose Jarrett over Meachem, but I'm not a Ginn Jr. fan at all. He seems like a very good returner to be, but a potential fragile player who may never become a monster WR. I think Ugoh is an absolute steal for the Cardinals. He sounds like D'Brick-lite in his scouting reports, except his strengths are the exact opposite. He's strong, and can actually run block (though he could be better) but his technique and pass blocking in general isn't all that impressive. Still, the guy has franchise LT potential.
yep, thats exactly how i felt...he must have gotten into the wrong crowd, because when i met him, he was a completely normal guy, except for the fact that he was freakishly fast. he was too much talent to pass up, and i felt we might regret it otherwise...if anyone can instill discipline, its Mangini...thats why i made the pick
Granted, but this kid wasn't pinched for spitting on the sidewalk or normal kid stuff, this kid was implicated in two of the most serious crimes short of murder and child molestation RAPE and Possession of Ecstacy in Quantity {i.e. the amount only a drug dealer would possess} So you have to assume he's an arch criminal and hope for the best, because he is a 1st RD talent Anyway, based on talent that pick was a steal .. for Sciko and for me in another mock .. but I made that pick KNOWING it's a 50/50 proposition at best .. even money on an All Pro Caliber Player or a Convict
If this guy finds religion, gets his act together, that pick is a heist  If not, he'll be turning tricks on Rikers Island hmy:
http://media.www.dailytrojan.com/media/storage/paper679/news/2005/04/21/News/Da.Drops.Rape.Charge-932598.shtml here is the article, all accusations, the man very well could have been innocent, not saying he is, but ya never know
Yea, there seems to be alot of talented college athlete rapes that amount to nothing. Sounds like a girl looking to get paid to me, and his case sounds no different. Think about it...he's a high talent college football player at a big name program in the middle of Cali. How likely is it he falls toward rape to get laid? Maybe he's a sick human, but again...I've heard good things reading around.
1. Jarrett is a top 20 value easily. Any later than that he's an absolute steal. 2. Kalil was a good pick because, despite what you said about there being better interior lineman available, that's very debatable. Kalil is a terrific center, and should be able to lock down a guard position for a couple years before taking over at center, filling two needs for Jacksonville. 3. The Rams WR corps has Holt, who is sensational, Bruce, who's just about done, and Bennett, who's not really much past a 3rd wideout. Gonzalez is the perfect replacement for Bruce, and should be very dangerous in the slot for a year before taking a starting job.
Houston should have taken Adrian Peterson.....end of story. Travis Henry isn't the long term answer. I took AP because some GMs above me, 4-10, felt need is more important. I tell you guys not drafting AP in the early single digits was a huge mistake. BPA is the rule, especially with the talent of AP. Gore had a great year, but AP is a Franchise Back in the mold of LT. Look at the 9er's roster after Gore.....there is squat in the RB position. MY Bad Not Henry...I meant Green
who said anything about travis henry? i agree there isnt another starting caliber back on the niners after gore, but Hicks and Robinson arent bad by any means
Wow, gettin a lot of love from JFIPA, I even cracked the top 3 in the draft with my tampa picks. Good stuff! (TB) Gaines Adams/Sidney Rice= A-/A (DEN) Jarvis Moss/Quinn Pitcock= A-/A Thanks alot JFIPA...now its cruch time...and the drafts are won in the later rounds...here we go
im guessing if you guys liked my 3rd pick:Eric Wright a little more, i would have been atop the list, With Blalock and Woodley both receiving A's
Hicks and Robinson.....when Gore gets hurt, Hicks and Robinson are your 1/2 punch.......I think not. People who passed on AP are shortsighted. When you let a top 5 player fall out of the top 10, in a year or two, there will be alot of regrets. The Texan's should be ashamed of themselves.......JR was a bad pick.
I liked your second & third picks a hell of alot better than your first. For me your solid second round selections made up for the first round mistake. Still hate the first rounder though..
yeah, I know, you made that clear in the thread about drafting for Oline at 25, I like the idea of drafting Blalock, so we can build a superline...i really think that will work wonders for our running game, and its the best bet for getting what our 25th pick is worth...Blalock will improve our line to where we dont need anymore 1 or 2nd round Oline picks for the next 5 years...
You could still build a superline without spending that kind of money on a guard. Not to mention it will make it virtually impossible to keep that kind of OLine together once each of them get closer to FA. I did love your second round picks though..
For the Panthers, I was honestly put in a tough spot. Landry was gone, and he was the guy I was gunning for. I dont think Nelson is that big of a reach to be quite honest with you......but I am happy with the pick since I adressed the Panthers BIGGEST need. I am not a big fan of Greg Olsen so no need for TE there, WR isnt a glaring need, DE shouldent be a 1st round need at all and with Willis gone I wasnt left with much to work with as far as LB's go. DT there wasnt much room to work with either so you have to understand the spot Carolina was in. But I am happy you liked my two other picks. Harris may be a reach but Im telling you the depth of LB in this draft is putrid so I needed to grab someone nice and workable in this D before they go away. Good stuff though bro. You do this better than me.
odd...everyone was telling me that Mangini would never even look at wright due to his past....and your the only one telling me you didnt like the blalock pick...cant please em all i like my picks...ill just stick to that
I'm going to grade picks as they come in when I'm around, so check back if you want. It really didn't take very long. I split it up into a few days and it took less than 2 hours total, so it wasn't bad at all. It was pretty enjoyable actually. Round 2 is completed and a new post for the 3rd round is below.
