Look at our lb corps. they performed really well last year. people talk about getting rid of barton, but he fits well in our system at 250 lbs and had 100 tackles last season in a new scheme. hobson is a beast and alsoo put up 100 tackles. he has good size and strength and is still young. vilma was a leader. he may not be the perfect size, but he handled all the defensive calls last year and if anyone can pick this up, it will be him. thomas was an amazing brght spot last year and fits the 3-4 olb/de role perfectly. our first two day one picks should address cb and ol. i wouoldnt be surprised if we have 2 offensive line men day one, but i do think our last day one pick wil be a dt.

It's because the Jets biggest weakness on defense is the lack of a consistent passrush. If they Jets can add such a player, it will take a lot of pressure off the secondary, and make them look a whole lot better than they have at times. Hobson's play has been high quality in the 34, but he could easily move inside, where he'd actually have an even bigger impact on stopping the run.

Plus, Mangini clearly wants to rotate to keep his defense fresh. Our starting four may be adequate but I for one think we lose a lot when we bring in Chatham and especially Kassell. After those two, we don't really have any options yet (maybe Schlegal someday). We definitely need more LBs and I'm sure Mangini will play who ever gets the job done. I hope we sign Bowens and draft another day one as well.

    What he said.

Considering how deep this class is, not getting a good OLB prospect this year almost seems stupid. We have our pick of a very nice litter.

We need a LB about as much as we need a RB and safety. That is the least of our worries right now.We need help at DL, OL, CB maybe in that order. Most likely we do not get the DL we want in round 1 so I say go for the best OL available, hopefully Blalock is there. How many LB do we have on this team, vrs DL and CB.If the front office takes any LB's on day one I will be very disappointed. That is the least of our problems.I say we go O line with our first two picks just like we did last year.Kendall is on his last legs and Moore is a back up at best.Get Grubbs and Blalock!!!!!

It won't matter how many corners we bring in, because QBs have all day and tomorrow to throw the ball. Even the best CBs in the league will get beat by mediocre WRs if the QB has the time to find him.

If LB is not a worry as you stated then The Jets would not have been one of the teams that (unsuccessfully) pursued Adalius Thomas & Joey Porter. And if you read the quotes during that period the phrases that were often repeated were "Perfect fit for the Jets scheme" & "versatile player with pass rushing ability" and that is exactly what the Jets need.

If LB is not that important then they wouldn't have spoken to Anthony Spencer as they did at The Senior Bowl and interview both Lamarr Woodley and Jarvis Moss at the Combine. So I expect OLB (OT, G in the late second ot third) will be addressed with the one of the first 2 picks especially with the Pats & Dolphins adding 2 formidable pass rushers

If we draft everyone we spoke to we will need 20 rounds of the draft.I have seen reports that stated that the Jets had interest in Thomas other reports said the Jets didnt have interest in A thomas .I have not seen any reports that stated that the Jets even had discussions with Porter and or Thomas or even pursued them.I dont see why we will pick a linebacker with our pick at 25 or even any pick on day 1. I guess time will tell.

Our linebackers would be fine if we had a better defensive line in front of them. I'm perfectly happy with Hobson and Thomas ouside and Vilma, Barton Schlegel in the middle. They key is we need a monster nose tackle.

Our rushing defense sucked last year. Also, with four day one picks one of them will probably be a LB.

I admit Hobson played well last year, but long term I think we could draft a much better playmaker than him.

In the 3-4, if you think CB is a need, then LB is a need. It all starts and ends with the pass rush. An improved pass rush will make your CBs look a lot better.
