For me, this was as exciting as it gets, being a San Jose State student and watching my good friend AT(who also posts on tgg) throw them passes all last year makes it all the more exciting. For me, i hope the Jets give Jones the oppurtunity, he may prove to be worth the risk.
well Jones and Broussard have the same height, but Jones is a stocked 210 lbs. while Broussard is only 165 lbs. broussard is faster ( 4.37) then Jones ( approx. 4.45) Jones
I could have sworn that after the combine Jones was pissed about not breaking into the 4.3s, and said he would do it at his pro day. Did he not run the 40?
did not get the pro day time, this was his combine i beleive...could be wrong, which is why i didnt include it in the article...
It seems that the best performance at the San Jose Pro-Day was not from a San Jose player. "Courtney Brown DB The Cal-Poly SLO product worked out at San Jose as part of their pro day and he really stood out with eye-popping numbers. He originally started school there as a wide receiver and was moved to DB in 2004. Brown (6-1 3/8, 200) ran two 40s, notching a 4.35 and 4.32. He had a vertical jump of 41 ½ inches, a 10-foot-11 broad jump, a 4.07 short shuttle, a 7.10 three-cone and 15 bench presses."
More on this kid. "Former Cal Poly cornerback Courtney Brown established some eye-catching marks at the Pro Day held Tuesday at San Jose State. So much so that the NFL Network is doing a feature story Thursday afternoon on the Mustang senior."
Marques Colston...thats enough said but ill talk some more here is something to think about...you guys all talked about Colston last year, and we all know hes a great talent now, and we should be kicking ourselves in the ass since he played in our own backyard.... I personally have a chance to include some of my knowledge about this situation being that I go to SJSU and since im good friends with the QB, which btw sometimes posts under my name, so you guys may or may not have talked to him before given that, Jones, the better of the two, may turn out to be something good in the NFL...he has great hands, very strong, very elusive in the open field (return specialist) and is a great guy... id like the jets to roll the dice on Jones...personally i think he has what it takes...
its not the first round PR...of course you arent going to find tons of talent in the 6th...but it happens...
And Antonio Gates was a walk on..can't forget him. As was Wayne Chrebet and several others whoi I can't remember right now.
You know what I don't get about the Colston fetish is that yea...he produced but he did so in a perfect situation for a young WR. Old reciever goes down, guy gets more playing time, QB kicks ass, likes big targets, and starts to throw ball your way. Theres alot of guys in this league just like him. He really had trouble holding onto the ball during the playoffs, and there was alot of talk of them (drops) being a major flaw of his. Theres been alot of good late draft round picks, I don't know why Colston is so special.
