PFT says Barnes to the Jets.... I don't know if anyone else saw this but it is on Profootballtalk.com. Anyone see confirmation of this? AFC East Bills: G Derrick Dockery (Redskins); T Langston Walker (Raiders); G Jason Whittle (Vikings). Dolphins: TE David Martin (Packers). Jets: DE Kenyon Coleman (Cowboys); FB Darian Barnes (Dolphins). Patriots: TE Kyle Brady (Jaguars); LB Adalius Thomas (Ravens); RB Sammy Morris (Dolphins). http://www.profootballtalk.com/2007freeagents.htm
yea i scanned through on that too.....i was thinking maybe b/c he was cut, but it has henry/johnson and others so no idea i guess we just have to wait and see about barnes
I still think we would have heard something about it. If true I think this is a solid signing. Here is some background: Attended Toms River North High School in Toms River, New Jersey ... Earned second-team all-state honors and first-team all county from the Star-Ledger as a senior ... Was also a second-team All-Shore selection by the Asbury Park Press as a senior ... Rushed for 1,163 yards on 148 carries and added 15 TDs in just eight games in 1997 ... Born Darian Durrell Barnes on February 28, 1980 in Neptune, New Jersey. Played a critical role as a lead blocker in the Dolphins’ running game ... In the nine games that he played, the Dolphins averaged 119.8 yards rushing per outing. Not much info about him out there but that is what I found.
I was thinking the complete opposite when I saw that.. At least when I was in high school down there, Neptune always had the best teams in every sport..
Here is something else I found on PFT. They seem to think it is a done deal. The 2007 Dolphins will look much different than the 2006 version of the team. Gone are guys like Randy McMichael, Joey Harrington, Bennie Anderson, Seth McKinney, Kevin Carter, Jeno James, Damion McIntosh, and Wes Welker. Of 14 unrestricted free agents, none have re-signed -- and several are landing elsewhere, including running backs Travis Minor and Sammy Morris. The latest departure is fullback Darian Barnes. We're told that Barnes has reached an agreement with the Jets, where he will replace B.J. Askew, who bolted for the Buccaneers. Can anyone find some good info on this guy?
