Don't know if this was posted already, but it's interesting given the way our roster is shaping up:

"ON DEFENSIVE: The Jets are loading up on defensive ends, fueling speculation they might use the 4-3 scheme more often than last year. They re-signed DE Bobby Hamilton, cut last week, to a reduced contract. They're negotiating with DE David Bowens (Dolphins)"

we needed it last year but if they do this it would be nothing more than a reason to keep vilma and maximize his production, cuz the 3-4 obviously wasnt our "best chance to win" mantra that mangini gave us when he was introduced.

doubt it.. evataully mangini wants to implement a full 3-4 defense with every now and than 4 man fronts included..i think he stackimg DE's because he wants a solid rotation of lineman..so h can try and keep everybody fresh. but im still cunfused what were gonna use bowens for.. im assuing OLB.

actually, they have said that they do not lean one way or the other, instead, going week to week depending on the opponent.

Why is it that actual writers for a team don't have a clue about football?? We signed a prototype 3-4 DE in Kenyon Coleman, and David Bowens will be an OLB for us......I really don't get it

Exactly on JV but for a 4-3 to be successful we would really need a serious PR or it will be doomed

thats why it would retard.. cause then we traded the wrong DE. it shoulda been shaun ellis traded if we wanted to run a 4-3.

Belichick's defense really does spring back and forth between 3-4 and 4-3.

Obviously, it takes a while to assemble the right roster to play effectively in both fronts, and the Jets are not there yet.

Either way, a stout DT/NT is required to make this defense more solid.

Coleman was in a lot in pass-rushing situations for Dallas, so it's not as if he can't rush the passer in a 3-4...

The possible Bowens signing I just do not understand at all...I think the Jets are good depth wise at DE and should focus on the rest of the depth in the draft...

But this talk of Bowens as an OLB opposite Bryan Thomas makes me scratch my head, he isn't that good to start. Better off keeping Hobson opposite Thomas.

The theory behind his statement doesn't make sense.Hamilton and Coleman are better 3-4 ends than 4-3 ends and wouldn't make great 4-3 DTs either.Bowens projects to 3-4 OLB.

Pure speculation. Could be 100% right or 100% wrong. Cimini has no knowledge of what they are thinking.

  14. Nothing wrong w/ mixing the looks alil more. We have some guys who has the versatility to play both schemes w/ D rob, Ellis, BT and Hobson

I don't understand his comment. We're stocking up on DEs so we're likely to run more 4-3? Don't both the 3-4 and the 4-3 have the same number of DEs?

If we were stocking up on DTs I would understand the speculation.
