This FA period is insane. Teams are "making it rain" like Pac Man Jones in a strip club. Looking at these numbers, it makes sense the Jets FO did not get some of these guys. This could go down as the Year of overpaying. Has Daniel Snyder corrupted the minds of some of these GMs?

(Note: Last year, Steve Hutchinson deal was worth $49 million for seven years with $16.5 guaranteed. Dockery (guard) matches that, and Steinbach (tackle) just beats it. Both Steinbach and Dockery got more guaranteed money than Hutchinson.)

If the jets signed the 3 guys a bunch of people were crying about:

    Clements + Porter + Thomas= 5 years with about 120 million tied up.:eek:hmy:

The worst deals so far have been the ones for the mediocre RBs. What were some of these teams thinking??

I say we sign Murrell to the second FFB league. I hear he is very contract friendly.

That Nate Clements deal is very high but he is making 25 million the first two years and if they keep him next year it the last year is voided. LOL This stuff is crazy!

The guaranteed money is what matters, everything else can be recouped by cutting them.

Most of these players, Porter, Kerney, Green, A. Thomas, and Clements will almost certainly not complete their contracts. I agree these contracts are ridiculous, but I guess what some of these teams are thinking is that they have the money now, so the beginning of their contracts are bloated. Then I'm also sure that the end of their contracts are back loaded. We all remember Ty Law's contract, we knew that it was going to only be for a year, however, if we really did want to keep him, we could have attempted to restructure his deal, had that not worked, we would have ended up releasing him anyways. I seriously doubt that the players I listed above, with the lone exception to maybe A. Thomas, will these players complete their contracts. The problems that arise though is how these contracts change the market value for other players and teams.

That's Exactly what the JETS used to be, a Team who had to overpay a player to play for them...

    ...Manginitus people!

    And you know what?

We got Thomas Jones, a RB that led his team to the Super Bowl, AND a 2nd Round Draft Pick, FOR a 2nd Round Draft Pick.

Man, this deal sounds even sweeter compared to every other signing so far this off-season.
