Wow, many of the guys I wanted for us are gone and we have probably made a huge trade to fix our RB problem. While I think that player trades aren't a bad idea this plan doesn't have any (aside from the RB trade news from today. The biggest problem that I had was finding a pass rusher. Kearney would be my first choice but I wanted something more realistic. Here goes nothing:

Pick # 31 Brandon Merriweather CB / S Miami - Phenominal athelete that has the versatility to play corner or safety and will bring leadership to our defensive backfield.

Pick # 59 Jason Hill WR Washington State - Superfast receiver with decent size to compliment Coles and Cotchery. He should be a nice target for Pennington

Pick # 63 Ryan McBean DE Oklahoma State - JUCO transfer that needs sone seasoning but can provide pass rush from the inside in a 4-3 or the outside in a 3-4. Can start as a backup and take over for Kimo by midseason.

Pick # 86 Doug Free OG Northern Illinois - Big nasty punishing run blocker that can start at RG and has the flexibility to backup at center. Played tackle at Northern Illinois.

Pick # 95 Anthony Waters ILB Clemson - Possibly the most talented linebacker in the draft. He got injurd in the first game of the year as a senior and wasn't healthy enough to run at the combine. Once he gets healthy, Waters will be the tackling machine that we need on the inside.

Pick # 154 Paul Soliai DT Utah - Big run stuffing NT that can provide depth for D-Rob in the middle

    **********************************************************************************************

Sign Marc Colombo RT Dallas Cowboys - The rumored signing of Colombo gives us a very skilled player to fill our empty RT slot and improve our running game

Sign Randy McMichael TE Miami Dolphins - Despite his off the field issues, McMichael is one of the better TEs in the league. Sign this guy up.

Sign Justin Griffin FB Atlanta Falcons - We need a FB and this guy is the best available.

Sign Montrae Holland OG New Orleans Saints - Considered the Saint's best guard last year before losing his starting job to injury. Has started at LG and RG. An unheralded free agnet that can compete for a starting job and provide depth otherwise.

Sign LaVar Arrington OLB NY Giants - Very talented player who plays very well when healthy. Pass rushers are scarce and Arrington is one of those. Could remind us of Abraham in many ways but will come with a much lower price tag. I would prefer Kearney but I am not sure about his price tag or our chances of getting him so Arringon is a more realistic target.

    ***************************************************************************************

    Trade # 1

    Bears get Pick # 37

Jets get Pick # 63 and Thomas Jones RB Chicago Bears

    Trade # 2

    Bears get Pick # 25

    Jets get Pick # 31 and Pick # 95

    What do you guys think?

Sounds good to me. Seems unlikely though that they'd sign all those players.

Rumor has it that we signed Colombo today so I am only projecting four signings if the rumor is true.

Lavar Arrington? No way in hell. The rest seems reasonable enough, although I think the Jets should avoid McMichael and his off-the-field issues.

Don't want Arrington after that injury. McMichael would be a great addition though. Holland would be a smart signing.

I can see Arrington having a rebirth of sorts with the Jets, but the idea of signing McMichael, while I don't buy into the 'Mangini Guy' stuff, seems a little out there. Yes, he played for a division rival, but the guy is practically a Cincinnati Bengal.

You're correct about McMichael, abyz, and I don't see the Jets touching him, but he would be a nice addition.

Arrington, I disagree with. He was having a rebirth of sorts last season with the Giants, then he screwed up his knee badly. Let another team have an older version of Sam Cowart, except with no discipline.

after his down seasons and that knee injury Arrington can not possibly ask for a lot of money, at least bring him in see what he wants... plus he wouldn't have to sell his house and pick up and move if he stayed in NY.....

montrae holland signed with denver I think (which surprised me since I dont think he fists their system and I would have loved him here as a cheap RG as well.

    1. Montrae Holland signed if I am not mistaken

    2. Mangini would not touch Brandon Merriweather, although he is a very talented player, and would be a good addition to the ... Bengals.

    3. Mangini would not touch Randy McMichael, although he is a very talented player, and would be a good addition to the ... Bengals.

    4. Lavar Arrington is crap.

    5. What happened to our 6th and 7th round picks?
