I just can't see Tampa Bay taking a QB with their first pick - I don't care how good Russell is. Gruden loves Chris Simms.
BPA, and Garcia is old...how many years does he have left...also...you cant deny that russell is better then simms, he is a franchise qb...while simms is an average to above average qb
I agree with all of that, but there is a reason they have the 4th pick, they have a lot of holes. QB right now is one of their stronger positions (if not strong by most team's standards), and they just gave a big contract to the best QB on the market this off-season. They Jeff Garcia signing was basically saying "We are not getting another quarterback."
I just cant see passing on a Jamarcus Russell when you are a bad team...such as TB...i just couldnt see passing on what should be the number 1 pick.
The Jets were a bad team last year and they passed on Leinart and made the smart, conservative choice. I think Tampa would do the same.
Yes, but Pennington...when healthy is a pro bowl caliber QB, and a great leader...You cannot say the same for Simms...and Garcia is way too streaky...he can either suck or be good.
Did they sign Chris Simms? Also remember that Garcia is 38 or 39, and even with his age he needs a guy to take over for him someday. Gradkowski doesn't have the skills to start (although he makes a great backup) and even Simms is seeing his chance slip away. Russell is a beast, and the Bucs can take his progression slowly with no rush for a year or two.
Perhaps we should have a minimum post count for someone to participate in the mock drafts. This is getting ridiculous
I'm participating in a Mock Draft, on another Jet board, that started the same time as this one, and Rd 1 is just completeing. Lets' get this together...or scrap it.
How are we still on the 6th pick of this draft? We need some replacements or something. Someone needs to be a timekeeper. After the 2 hours if they person is not there, then he should be replaced. The replacement then has so much time (shorter than 2 hours) to make his/her pick.? gotta do something.
