Here's one vote that the jets refrain from signing some old retread to pair with Leon Washington. Yes, I'm talking about Corey Dillon, Ahman Green (who signed with Houston), or anyone else on the wrong side of 30. We have 3 picks in the first 2 rounds...spend one on a RB. The only free agent RB that even remotely interests me is Travis Henry--he always runs hard. Other than him, I hope we don't get Corey or any other greybeard RB. Terry Bradway signed Curtis Martin in 2002 thru the end of 2009 season--Guess Curtis didn't last that long, did he? RBs pushing 30 or over are usually not the answer, even in the short term. My opinion only.

I disagree. If the best RB for our needs was a 30 year old, I'd have no problem. Washington still may be the longterm answer. All we need is a bigger back to take a decent amount of the carries along with Washington.

I also don't agree. I'd prefer Dillon over a never-has-been like TJ Duckett or Chris Brown.

Though I still regard Dillon as a last resort, if the Jets can't bring in someone better and don't like any of the guys they think they can draft.

I truly hope the Jets draft Michael Bush at 25

I know Dillon sucks. I'd rather a never-was like Duckett than a has-been than Dillon though. Duckett still has talent and more importantly, he'd be a LOT cheaper. Houston isn't a bad option either to be in the mix if our run-blocking improves.

The best "RB by committee" duos are an older guy and a young guy.

Name another Duel RB system that has two young backs working it.

When the Jets signed Ty Law, I was okay with it. I always HATED Ty Law when he was a Patriot but I also begrudgingly respected him.

But Corey Dillon. . . I hate him. And I have no respect for him. The guy can't play anymore and he's a head case. He would seriously taint the Jets for me if he was signed.

I completely agree. I hated Ty Law and even snickered when he broke his foot, but I became an immediate fan when he was a free agent. I've always hated Corey Dillon, and I would BARELY support him if he ended up in Green and White.

Trading for Thomas Jones is the best option right now

And ironically that pick matches Joey Porter's age!

If were gonna use cap space on a RB, or God forbid draft picks, they should be a significant upgrade over our current starters. As far as the FA crop at hand i really don't see any that will fit that bill.

If I had to pick my poison I woulda took Ahman Green since I think he would have complemented Shotty's offense and would be a good outlet for the signature Pennington dumpoffs.

Powerbacks like Dillon have a very real expiration date, more so than the slashers. Jerome Bettis is not the norm. I don't think Dillon would make an impact on this team although he is without a doubt better than Barlow and Blaylock. I think Houston/Washington have more to offer at this point.
