I really hope this post was sarcastic. Mangini did nothing but gush about Coles every time he was asked about him, all season long.
You guys would have to give up your 1st this year, a player (Vilma sounds good), AND your first next year to even be able to SNIFF the #2 pick. Yeah, you guys aren't getting near it.
Im shocked that you people are even considering trading our defensive captain for a player that may or may not be good. Vilma stays, I would rather part with coles, our first and our extra second than trade vilma and our first.
I think I'm allright with the idea of trading Coles or Vilma plus the #25 but I would rather not give up a 2nd rounder. I think giving up Coles/Vilma and the #25 should be sufficient. That being said I don't think the fans in Detroit would be thrilled with giving up the #2 and possibly a franchise OT or QB for Coles and a late 1st rounder. This is the type of stupid FO we need to fleece, we've done it to Washington and now we need to do it to Detroit. They have morons running the show in MoTown , Lion fans know it, Jet fans know it and I'm sure Tangini knows it. I'm sure if we make this move we'll be pissed at 1st but it will work out. Although I'd hardly see us trading Vilma if we land Porter. I don't think we need to trade up to #2 to get Peterson either, I believe we'd just need to move ahead of Green Bay. I would not put it past this FO to make the trade up to #2 and then trade down by aquiring more picks.
If last years draft is evidence of anything it's Tangini wants as many draft picks as possible... the idea of the trade is ridiculous... ain't happening
How is it going to tarnish your view for, Tangini? You dont know how any of this would pan out. It is a gamble sure, but it would give me a lot more hope in my eyes. They are going out there fighting hard to improve this team, and making some bold moves. After all of that. I also would rather stick with our current selections, or trade down. I will support whatever move they make though.
It'd be a heist if the Jets could get the #2 with only giving up the #25 and Vilma/Coles. Both Coles and Vilma have been awesome players (Coles happens to be one of my favorites on the current team), but to get a shot at Peterson or Calvin Johnson for an aging WR with tons of mileage, or an out-of-place LB, would be a steal.
I'd rather trade a first for Turner (they'd probably do that) then trade Vilma and a first for Peterson.
I still think if anyting close to this trade up happens, I would be totally shocked. It would just be uncharacteristic from what we saw last year. In fact, pretty much the polar opposite.
This is one of the dumbest trade predictions I've seen, 2 pro-bowlers for a guy that hasnt proven a thing in the NFL...Theres no way the Jets can do this to themselves.
BTW, Clayton has denied ever saying anything about Vilma being involved in a trade with Detroit. Turns out it's a bogus internet rumor.
Crap................. I was really hoping we would trade Vilma, Coles, Rhodes and the 25 pick this year, for their 1st pick and a 7th. rounder. Oh well back to the drawing board.
