Heard it on John Claytons radio show about an hour ago.
I think Vilma would be included in this deal along with our 1st rounder and maybe late second rounder. I think we would then select Peterson.

    or

Maybe Vilma, Coles and the 25th and we select Calvin Johnson.
This not likely but if Calvin is the guy we are looking for, Coles will have to go.

What I didnt hear clayton say is who the Jets want at 2.

I am assuming its either Calvin or Peterson.
    I think they want Johnson.

    Why?

And anyway, didn't they say this about Bush last year?

It's your typical NYC/Big Market looking to make Big Splash kind of thing.

Or we could have the best tandem of young OTs in the league w/ D'Brick and Joe Thomas. But if we trade up and give up that much to get an OT (or anyone else for that matter) I might cry.

Trust the Penguin. If you trust Mangini with his FA approach in out overspending.. then trust Mangini if he decides to trade Vilma for the #2 pick. It would be obvious then that Mangini doesn't believe that Vilma fits his system.

Actually, I wouldn't mind if it for the right price. I have gone against trading Vilma this whole off-season, but I think Peterson could be an amazing back in the NFL, and at the right price, I wouldn't mind trading up. If it costs Vilma and our 1st, I would do it, and even if we added in our late second, I sitll might do it. BUT if we are trying to Calvin Johnson, I would be dissapointed. I realize Johnson is a very, very special reciever and player, but I wouldnt want to give up an amazing defensive player and more for a player that would be our 3rd WR.

Trading Vilma will be the worst idea ever to come out of this team.

If Mangini doesn't feel that Vilma is gonna fit his system then it makes sense to deal him. Mangini is here to stay.

If the Jets plan on trading Vilma in this deal I would think the pick would have to be defense..perhaps DT (Wright). I doubt they would have to trade up to #2 for him though and taking a WR that high would be a bad move......

Maybe for Peterson but not Johnson. Receivers with all that hype dont pan out. See Charles Rogers, Mike Williams, Larry Fitzgerald, Roy Williams. Although some are good, they are no way worth the position they were drafted. Only if you believe Peterson is the next Tomlinson, pull the trigger.

See Larry Fitzgerald and Roy Williams ... you mean two of the best receivers in this league?

there's no way...we're not going to trade our most productive receiver or our best LB in addition to a pick just to move to the top of this draft

this franchise is not built to make moves like that, not with these coaches at the front

this would be a ridiculous mistake if we get rid of vilma or coles, especially if we ended up picking c. johnson

Coles,Vilma, and our 1st for Calvin Johnson would make me sick. For years.

    Forever.

Calvin Johnson looks like an animal tho.. looks like a real game changer. Remember Coles is about to be 29.. Calvin Johnson is gonna be 22. He's a "for the future" pick.. Coles may no longer be effective when the Jets make the leap forward into being a Super Bowl type team. It'll take 3-4 years I think. Calvin Johnson will be there in 3-4 years and after Harrison exits the stage, TO exits, MOss exits..he could be the best WR in the league.

Calvin Johnson for Coles/#25 and Vilma? I have to give it big time thought. BIG TIME THOUGHT. May be a little much but say the lions chucked in their 2nd rounder too giving us 3 in the 2nd round? Do it then?

Tough call. I love Vilma, but he probably doesn't fit in.. Calvin Johnson is a game changer.

I wouldn't go that high to get Peterson. He can be had at 6.

C Johnson is Randy Moss without the attitude. You can LOB IT UP TO HIM (no Pennington Jokes please) and he'll come down with it.

Now I am on the fence here.. . I don't know what to say .
