We'll see what happens, I disagree. They have been built through the draft and w/ mid level nad low level FAs. They are abanonding their philosphy, I love it. It shows desperation. People act like Adalius Thomas is the best player in the game, he's a GOOD player that played w/ HOF talent around him in Baltimore. I think he's a little bit of fool's gold in that everyone thinks he's this can't miss sure thing player. I am glad we didn't overpay for him.

Thankfully we"re not in any condition to have to show a little desperation.....Im content with a first round playoff loss every now and then. Those poor bastards in NE must be soooo desperate

They are desperate to try to get back to the Championships years, we are trying to build toward Championship years. Their PROVEN formula for success was to NOT overpay for FAs and now they are changing, it's good to see.

I hope they are changing directions, getting high priced FAs has proven not to work.

That's right. Why do you think Brady had tears in his beer, when they let Branch go. He specifically took less $$$$$ so the team could keep a core. Franchising Samuel only hampers their ability to sign him long term, bc he isnt going to take a paycut now, and the difficulty in signing their own guys going forward just increased exponentially.

I even forgot about Samuel, Clements just got $22 mil in guaranteed money and the Pats will give Thomas around $20 mil. there's no way he'll sign at a discounted price so if he stays his price goes up.

It's no big deal. They were going to win 12 or 13 games next year anyway unless Brady got hurt. Thomas isn't going to add anything to that.

In a couple of years Vrabel and Thomas will both be aging and the Pats will have the same situation the Jets had when Lewis and Jones both went over night.

The Pats could not beat a team that had no rushing defense.

    Yeah they're on the decline.

  16. I'm not the biggest advocate of FA signings, and frankly I've often found A thomas overrated(The Pats need a big middle linebacker much worse than they need an OLB like Thomas).

But I will admit, every year we hear the same BS from FO and TGG about "This FA class isn't worth throwing grade a money at, be patient and we'll sign some younger cheaper guys".

It'd be nice for once, to see us actually fill a glaring need in the 1st couple days of FA w/ a prominent player. I would've loved to have seen us address the Guard position w/ a guy like Steinbach or Diellman, but unfortunately, this FO and the last one...don't believe in firmly addressing a position in need of an upgrade

I would like to see what the deal was. Wouldn't some of the currrent Pats be upset if he was paid big dollars after letting some of their teamates go last year for the same reason..

  18. Their biggest need was/is not at OLB which A Thomas will play in NE(They already have Colvin who's a very similar player). They need help at the middle linebacker spots where Bruschi is on the decline and Vrabel has been playing out of position. Yes Thomas is a good player who fits their system, but he really doesn't make them that much better of a team on paper beyond better depth.

According to ESPN, thomas will get at least 15 mil in guaranteed money and 8 to 10 million dollars a year. Now that's A LOT of money. Let's home Thomas (29) has only 1 good year left in him, and that he was a product of the players around him in the Ravens defense.
