    It's been said that Willie is impressed with Julio Franco. He sees a bright future for him in the league.

    How was that world championship for the Mets last year?
    That was a great parade they had through the canyon of heroes.

    All I'm saying is that the best team in New York last year was in Queens.

    If the Yanks played in the NL there's a good chance they would have gotten as far.

    So that means that the only team that mattered last year was the 83 win Cardinals? And the only team that mattered in football was the Colts? Every other team is just lumped in with the rest.

    Mets=Yankees=Devil Rays=DBacks=White Sox=Red Sox

    Ooooooo. I didn't realize thats how it works. All those AL and AL East Champion banners don't mean anything?

    Jets=Bears=Chargers=Cardinals=49ers?

    Okay, so then the Yankees were the best team in NY how many more times than the Mets???

    If thats what helps you sleep at night, so be it.

    And actually both teams finished with a 97-65 record winning their respective divisions.
    So they were pretty much equal last year with the exception of the extra series but once again, if thats what helps you sleep at night.....

    There's no point in arguing that the Yankees haven't been the better team in New York for many many many years. However, it would be nice if a Yankees fan could have some dignity and admit that the Mets were the better, more dynamic team in New York last year.

    Same records but the Mets were beating up on weak NL teams while the yanks got their 97 in the much tougher AL.

    They weren't better, were they more entertaining? YES. The Mets are a more fun team to watch right now but I think the teams were about equal last year and the yanks were probably a little better.

    I think you are mistaking this thread with the GYC thread.

    no what I'm saying is the AL & NL are 2 different styles of baseball.in the AL you can sign a bigbat regardless of position he plays.

    NL teams have to manufacture runs.more strategic.

    The Yankees were the better team. They play in the much tougher league.

    You may be right on that 17a, but the fact of the matter is, Pitching wins Games (and Championships).

    Of course, it's good to have a good offense who can hit the ball and manufacture some runs and whatnot, but when it comes down to it, pitching matters more. AL or NL, pitching is very important.

    And since this is an Anti-GYC type-thread, the Yankees, over the years, not saying in present day, have had the pitching to win the World Series. The Mets haven't since 1986.

    when the yanks won their titles thy where playing NL brand ball.moving the runners over taking pitches going 1st to 3rd on hits,small ball.shortening the game with a good bullpen.look at the last 10 WS champs
    06 cards
    04 white sox
    03 marlins
    02angels
    01 d backs
    96-00 yanks

    their styles where all alike
