I'm trying to figure out what to do with the BS Forum with the plethora of Mets and Yankees game threads that will appear. In no way will one thread per game in the BS Forum be the way to go. We need to find another option. The one I prefer and am supporting is the use of one multipurpose thread per team for all things (trades, signings, game threads) Do we really need threads for each individual thing? The main point I'm making that in my convos with posters, specifically the BS ones, it is totally unfair to them to have MLB dominate the BS Forum since not everyone likes baseball. There is the idea of a subforum and all that, but historically Petro has been reluctant to designate an area. Regradless, I'd like to get some feedback before we finalize the approach.
Keep the official Yankees and Mets threads for signings, trades, callups, whatever. And just start 2 more threads on "The 2007 Yankees Game Thread." Along with rhe Mets...
There's an LA board I visit where they start a new Dodgers thread for each month of the season. Then we had one for the winter off season and one for the spring. They get big and then another month rolls around and a new one starts.
how about a game thread gets the life of 24 hours and is erased at the start of the next met/yankee game
It's pretty damn silly to create FIVE new sub-forums for the Jets, and then at the same time be so stubborn about putting up a sub-forum for the most popular BS Forum topic from April-October.
Red Sox board I go to has this: http://www.redsoxnation.net/forums/index.php?showforum=78 http://www.redsoxnation.net/forums/index.php?showforum=12 A subforum for each type of game but a general baseball subforum wouldn't be bad
If I was a mod, I would allow series threads, because I'd be around often enough to delete them when they're done! But hey, I keep getting overlooked, that's fine.
Because there is no need for 324 baseball game threads in a forum that tries to encompass everything. Kind of like what we did with the offseason threads. It's actually pretty neat because you can find everything in one place.
what about putting the game threads in the game thread section of the forum.. if put there the bs forum doesn't get all the unnecessary threads plus we have a place to follow every game or series... plus nobody goes in the game thread forum during the football offseason anyway so its not like its interupting anything else.
After lurking here for roughly 3 years I would have to say that the volume of Mets and Yankees related posts/threads/signatures/ect. has grown steadily every year. I understand that you say Petro is reluctant to create new sub-forums, but i think they might be necessary. I am advocating that we should have Mets and Yankees sub-forums in the General Discussion forum To include the rest of MLB, they'll be "Mets and NL" forum and "Yankees and AL" forum. Mistermoss, asking for just one massive thread would be nice, but there are too many noob posters(myself excluded) who would create new threads for the minutia of the season. can't you just see new threads like "OMG, i just found out how old Julio Franco is!!!!1" littering the BS forum. Because i can... a thred like that would be just fine in its own forum, whereas in BS it would be unwelcome by some. The Mets/Yanks forum could have Series threads instead of each game, thereby not creating a backlog of single game threads. anyone else think I'm on to something here? I know this is a Jets board, but why hide the fact that we all love our respective NY-area Baseball teams?
To be honest, I don't see what the big deal is to having a thread for each game if that is what happens. I don't think there was even the slightest "littering" of the BS Forum with such threads last summer, since such a thread is active for one day, and then almost inevitably drops off the board immediately (I seemed to be the designated starter of Mets threads for a while last summer, and they would get 30-100 posts in them, and then immediately disappear). I would be very much against incorporating game threads into the current threads related to each team, since then it would become impossible to see the bigger news that might be in the "official" thread. If there is a perceived need to limit threads to one per series or one per month, so be it, but personally I really don't see the need to even do that at all.
