Not true. Curtis only had 2 season like that. Nobody was talking about how great he was during he last season. He earned the talk he gets

he will be 29 in november. you guys were complaining about adding a all pro linebacer at the age 29. but you want add a rb who has not proven anything but being avg. at the age 29?

The only plus about Jordan at that age is mileage- he wasn't used very much in his first few seasons so he doesn't have the wear and tear that other backs his age might.

Showed skills while here in NY. Reason he left to go be a starter.

Showed that a terrible offensive line cant even keep him from getting those all purpose yards.

He has not been run into the ground like most 29 year olds have.

He would be the perfect compliment to our running cast. Makes sense to me.

The Jets are the ones concerned about A.Thomas's age, and that is when everyone started retracing their opinions.

That's what they said about Priest Holmes, and here he is out of the league. It might prove valid, but you never know. I would rather take my chances with a younger long-term solution, though I'd take Jordan at a reasonable price.

i wouldnt touch jordan.. he decided to turn his back on the jets and leave instead of waiting 1 yr for his shot to start. now the raiders are gonna cut him cause they realize he is a avg running back and that they overpaid him. why exactly do you want this guy back? so he can teach leon how to be lazy and how not to learn his playbook? or maybe he can show him how to get benched for a justin fargas like player?

    I'd counter with

    1) Was grossly overrated in NY
    2) Did NOTHING in Oakland. Can't blame this all on the OL.
    3) Broke down last year, so wear and tear or not, he's coming off injury
    4) Would not fit in with the Mangini mantra.

I'm in full agreement- no way I touch this guy- I'd rather look to a younger, all purpose back, someone with a little more finesse.

He didn't turn his back on the Jets, he wanted a chance to start. I neevr blamed him for leaving, it was something that had to happen.

He had been waiting for a few years to get more time. Herm wouldn't give it to him. You can't blame the guy for taking a big raise and a chance to start can you?

I still think he's an above average back. Look at what he did his first season at Oakland. Last season, LT would have sucked there.

Mangini would not allow for this type of behavior to occur. If we can get Lamont to compliment Washington and be our bruiser at a cheap price, I say do it. If it doesn't work out, just cut him, it's not like we're sacrificing a draft pick or a big chunk of the cap. I don't understand why you wouldn't want to take this risk.

    1) He was very good whenever given the opportunity in NY.
    2) over 1500 all purpose yards and 12 TD's in 14 games in 2005. If that's NOTHING, I'd like to hear your idea of something.
    3) Yeah he got injured last season, it happens.
    4) You have no way of knowing this.

We had this HOF RB in case you forgot so lamont's touches were limited. He was drafted to take over for Curtis but Curtis kept on running strong, that's why lamont didn't get more touches.

we get the point but herm promised him more carries and it never happened. you gotta throw a bone to the backup sometimes, especially if you drafted him with the intent of replacing your over 30 back.

I do agree he should have been given more carries but he had chances.

The guy took a hit that probably would have killed him if he didn't have a helmet on, I think that might have something to do with him retiring.

And Lamont put up 1500+ all purpose back on a crappy team with no offensive line. I still don't want him, but to say he "proved" he was "only a backup" during his time in Oakland is completely BS.

I wouldn't condemn a player for playing in a dysfunctional organization like the Raiders'. Randy Moss, while a complainer and lazy ass, went from an all pro to an afterthough in the league while playing on that team. Their OL and QBs have been horrible since Gannon left, and they last played in the Super Bowl. Art Shell and his B&B O-Coordinator last year were about as formidable as a PeeWee League tandem.

All this retrospective BS about LaMont being lazy, about LaMont leaving for money is a joke. Why isn't the same thing being said about LColes, who left for $ and then came back. How much of LaMont's laziness was a function of Camp Herm and the lack of discipline preached by the Preacher Man. You want to give up a 1st Rd pick (at the very least) for a guy who has never had to carry the load himself, but he's the next Walter Payton apparently? I'm not against exploring the idea of acquiring Turner, but to outright dismiss LaMont Jordan is shortsighted, IMO. And if we're going to RBBC on a go-forward basis, you'd only be asking LaMont to be what he was with the Jets previously: an excellent running back when used on a relatively limited basis.

if lamont is as great as you guys are touting him.. why is he abou t to get Cut. outright cut. randy moss who is more of thorn in al davis side wont be cut.. but lamont and his 1500 all purpose yards is getting cut. remember kevan barlow had a 1,000 yard season too.

coles was actually a jerk when he left as he didn't give us a chance to negotiate w/ him then badmouthed us on the way out, Jordan gave us the chance to negotiate(we actually offered him more than Oak but he wanted to be a starter) and I don't think he has bad mouthed us at all- maybe a slight dig here or there but i always got the impression he was just mad b/c he still wanted to be here.
