After reading about Jets' team needs from alot of different sources....I conclude that the Jets' will draft defense... & a pass rusher with there 1st pick. My question to you is...With the Jets' pickin' at 25....Who will this player be ?

My guess...Charles Johnson or Quentin Moses of Georgia; Victor Abiamiri of Notre Dame; Anthony Spencer of Purdue; Harrell of Tenn.; or Offensive lineman or RB.

If Jets' go CB ....Gotta be Chris Houston of Arkansas.

My pick for a pass rusher : Quentin Moses of Georgia. This guy is fast & a pure pass rusher & will have a definite impact down the road. Abiamiri is also fast & a pure pass rusher. Charles Johnson...Is also no slouch...

Offensive Lineman : Justin Blalock...Can play guard or tackle. Can be a day 1, a day 1 starter & that is needed from a #1 pick. He will be a starter for the next 10 years. A very solid pick.

My Choice of 25th Pick....Justin Blaylock.

Rational : 25th pick is a low pick. Most of the impact players have already been drafted, picking an impact OL in that slot is a very fulfilling & strategic move. Trading down & acquiring more picks is also a good option.

i'd avoid abiamiri like the plague. he doesn't even stand out on a terrible ND defense

you forget Jarvis Moss. There is a chance he may still be there at 25 and word is the Jets love him.

If you look at his skill set, he has alot of speed, but needs to increase his strength. Anyway..I'm very comfortable with Tanginis' decision making & feel very secure that they will make the best decision for the Jets'.

Last years miscalculations during draft....I believe was from not knowing his true teams needs, because he had just inherited a new team. But after having the team for a year, he is well acquianted with all staff & personnel.

Remember...Tangini has not only improved his coaching staff, but is also in the process of improving his roster.

If we sign Thomas, we can forget about all those talented lbs you mentioned. I would love Moss, Johnson, Blaylock, Houston, or Hall to name a few.

he's gonna fall so far...he sucked at the combine and he had a down year his senior season at UGA.

  10. I still believe a pass rusher is not our top need.

BT is more than capable of being a quality pass rusher, Ellis and D rob are both good at collapsing the pocket, and we were a very good blitzing team a year ago.

The need on defense is quality run defenders. And it starts by finding a replacement for Kimo at Re, or finding a quality NT to move D rob over to De.

Addressing and improving the Run D will ultimately improve our pass rushing ability.

Lamarr Woodley, one reason is because we didnt talk at all to him at the combine... somethings fishy...

I agree. We've got some LBs with pass rush ability. Shore up that line and I think we'll get some better play from the LBs. However, I see nothing wrong with working on the o-line as well on the same principle. Shore that up and our offensive skill players will do better. Blaylock would be a fine choice, I'm personally still holding out hope Carriker falls to us (I just think 4-3 teams are going to be turned off by that 40 time), but I'm not real excited about spending a first rounder on the third or fourth best 3-4 OLB convert.

personally i think this year should be a best player available becuase we dont have one obvious need. (we could use a de the most but our picks would be best used later int he draft)

i would love it if we could get meachem but i doubt he'll fall to us. Hes a nice big target at 6 3 and if anyone saw his game against cal last year, you will agree.

    he ran a 4.48 40

he is prob gonna be alot higher than our pick but this might be my fave POSSIBLE pick

Michael Griffin would be a solid pick as well

Watching him in the Rose Bowl....He is a good pick in round 2, but he's only a solid player.....w/o great speed. Not a good choice @#25....IMO.

also, if i were going to go offensive line route like you did,i would DEFINETLY rather chose Sears than Blaylock.

  16. I'm w/ ya 100% man.

Unless the BPA is one of those top Wr's,I believe this draft's emphasis should be on both the offensive and defensive lines.

The team we are trying to catch in our division, has about the same level of talent at the skill positions as we do(at this point we prolly have more talent on D). Where we are lagging behind is along both lines, as was evident in the 2 losses to them. Consequently, the game we won against them, was a game in which we dominated the LOS as our OL did a great job of keeping chad clean, While Ellis and D rob were both monsters.

I'd love to see Carriker fall to #25, although it is unlikely. However, someone like Justin Blalock or Tony Ugoh would be a great addition to our OL, and really give us a big time boost.

Watching every game, I'd be more comfortable saying none of them made plays. He really didn't do anything against good teams. He went after the bad teams like Stanford and disappeared in big games.

I'm just going to go on record and hype up my boy Anthony Spencer from Purdue. He fell off of Kipers "big board" but if he's around at #25 we could do alot worse than pick this guy. May struggle at first but i think he can eventually fit in.

    espn.com says,
    Anthony Spencer, DE, Purdue (6-2½, 261) | previous: 23
He became a much more effective pass rusher in 2006 for the Boilermakers. The key at the next level will be his athleticism and versatility, because I project he'll be an ideal outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense.

I've seen this guy play live a couple times and he's fast as hell getting to the qb. He can flat out move and could run right around slower big ten outside Tackles. He's only 261 pounds whereas Carriker is nearly 300, but i think Carriker is more of a pure LE or RE in a 4-3 defense. Spencer could see legit playing time at the outside linebacker spot. Probably faster than Hobson

    anyone else agree?

i agree to certin extent.. i think he can be more effective with better players around him.. its to be disruptive when ur cant cover a thing longer than 2 secs. i mean granted he is know jason tuck as far as speed rushing goes.but i can see him as a 5 to 6 sacks guy . but be strong vs the run. pretty much a true LE

Yep...He reminds me of Tuck also. He definitely has speed. You can't buy that. I feel that with more talent around him...He can shine. He definitely can get after the QB & the defense will have to account for him. Bottom line, he would be the fastest rusher they have...since Abraham.
