With the recent news of Lewis' release from the Ravens this afternoon, he is probably the best opportunity the Jets would have to bring in a veteran starting RB without having to give anyone up. I don't think he's all that spoecial...and do we need a RB at all, period? I would say that without making a trade for McGahee or something, then forget the RB position right now, because we can't get a superstar.
jamal would be nice to have but i dont really think he would be worth whatever hes asking this is wierd, i remember talking about the same thing last year. Jamal was considering another team and we said we didnt need a rb because of curtis haha so yea, if we could get him for a low value, i believe he still has some diesel left in the tank if we treat him right but other wise...ehh
The guy is sooooo slloooow now hitting a hole. No thanks. His big name doesn't make him the "best option."
314 1132 3.6 52 9 300+ carries last year to bearly break 1100 yards. and a lolw avg of 3.6 yards carry.
I agree, he's pretty washed up. I don't really want him. Given an upgrade at RG and RT plus a blocking FB (Not Askew), I think Leon Washington can be a feature back with Cedric Houston taking carries also. Even another Kevan Barlow type guy could be good also... Just not anyone too expensive, and not Kevan Barlow.
He's gonna re-sign with Baltimore anyway....plus I don't think there are too many jet players looking to score some coke from him (at least I hope)....
Jamal is running out of gas, expect similar problems for Larry Johnson after Herm runs him into the ground in a few years.
I agree with most previous posts...that guy stinks...ever since his little incident, he hasn't been the same and probably wants too much money, not to mention that he is definitely not a M.G.
I wouldn't mind Lewis at all. He is a power back who by now realizes he isn't an everydown back, and that'd give Leon plenty of opportunities and carries. If the Jets could get him fairly cheap, go for it...It'd be a nice duo.
"DO we need a running back at all this offseason (Jamal Lewis)?" I say no. Now, if you want to discuss the possiblity of needing a running back during the regular season, I say yes.
I think he is washed up....he'd be an upgrade over Cedric Houston but I still see him sharing carries if he was here...I dont think he is a premier back any more.
I think I take corey dillon over jamel lewis. At least we know dillon gets up for 2 games a year. I only take either if they replace houston and we still bring in a young guy
